It isnt about provide jobs....its about providing pressure.

they dont have a history of working hard for too long ...so it eh go last.

I think its a bad strategy for the negotiations...even though I think they should be better compensated

Commuters told: Walk with your breakfast, lunch, dinner

By the Multimedia Desk

Story Created: Mar 23, 2015 at 10:21 AM ECT

Story Updated: Mar 23, 2015 at 10:21 AM ECT
Commuters were given an ominous warning on Monday by Vice President of the Police Service Social and Welfare Association Inspector Roger Alexander, who suggested that police officers would continue their road block exercises into the afternoon. Speaking on the TV6 Morning Edition programme, Alexander said that the law abiding should "walk with your breakfast, lunch and dinner".

Alexander denied in several occasions that the police exercises were linked to the ongoing wage negotiations. However, he said that it was not right that a police constable was working "day, lunchtime and night" for the same salary as that of a ministry clerk. "That is amazing eh?" he said.

Alexander said the road blocks, which have been condemned by citizens across Trinidad and Tobago, were meant to show that the police were doing their work "and we are trying to show the importance of the police on the ground...We are all about fighting crime".

National Security Minister, Retired Brigadier Carl Alfonso, has confirmed that the police roadblocks throughout the country have been discontinued. Speaking on Talk City 91.1FM's Breaking News Programme a short while ago, Minister Alfonso said: "All these roadblocks that were in place should be stood down immediately. So as we speak, those should not be in place. What I have not yet got from the Commissioner is who authorised those roadblocks in the first place. I expect a statement from the Commissioner very, very shortly."

Glad Im doing paper work from home today.. fyah bun d traffic.

Alfonso need to know his place he cannot order any roadblock to end, nor does any division need the permission of the COP to conduct traffic exercises

Alexander should state:

who authorized it-co ordinated road blocks on a Monday rush hr....

what piece of intelligence led to this decision and who gave the order?
And what were the results?

cost /benefit-man hours spent in traffic/vs what crimes were detected.
