Don't know how helpful this will be for everyone but just so you can have an idea of why I like the aeropost shipping calculator over the competition... here's a breakdown of the estimated cost to ship a package followed by the actual customs invoice received today after the package was processed in customs.

One of the things I would leave aeropost and go with another skybox service provider for is if any other skybox offers a calculator service that estimates the actual shipping charges dead accurate instead of a close estimate. So far I think the aeropost calculator is the closest and I like that You don't even need an aeropost account to use it.

Thanks pete I think the killer is more the duties and vat than the weight. For example if your item weighed 5 pounds you would pay almost exactly what aeropost charged me but look at the difference in our bills? yours is half of mine because of the difference in vat and duties. I wish your Item was over 4lbs just to compare aeropost charges to yours directly. I'm estimating they are either exactly the same or aeropost is a tiny bit cheaper than your skybox

Say what you want about aeropost but these people are no joke. In the spirit of this discussion I "hawkeyed" my last package just to get an idea of how fast aeropost actually ships and I'm seeing that UPS delivered my package to miami at 5:18pm Yesterday and Aeropost had my package in trinidad going through customs less than 3 hours later at 7:59pm yesterday evening. I had no idea they shipped that fast. The package was prealerted but still holy crap that is insanely fast shipping.

please tell us when you actually get your package because the flight from miami is 3hours 40 minutes
and i really doubt they were able to get a package onto a flight if they received the package at 5:18 pm

also considering that most of those offices in miami close at 4pm.

Ok so amazon reported a delivery time of 5:18pm but aeropost's timeline tells a different story... Seems they got it just after lunch around 1pm. Either way This package came wayyyyyy faster than I expected given the christmas season. I also went back through a few of my packages to confirm that this is the longest a package that I shipped with aeropost has ever taken to clear customs and get to the pickup counter (i pickup packages I don't have them delivered)

I think where AP may be slower is on their delivery. I have always collected my stuff as i work close by but have heard 2-3 additional days to deliver at times.

Set of 4 wheel spacers, $200us. They valued it at $50us or so and labelled as "Motorcycle parts". .
No duty, but VAT and rest of charges came up to $327tt. Not bad for 11lb item.

so i collected my package this morning and I could barely squeeze past all the packages in the AP office to reach the counter. If you don't desperately need to ship something before christmas better forget it till after. I'm surprised many packages don't get lost at this time of year. It is totally out of control at the AP counter right now.

Went AP Fernandez today, about 100 ppl in there. Got through in 20 minutes though.

Still better than waiting on delivery this time of year.

Marabella but both places in a mess. Marabella sending people across by HiLo to collect packages no bs lol they spilling on to the streets. I will never try to ship anything december month again even though this package came really fast. Too much opportunity for things to go wrong.
