wanna buy a set & yea i know i cud go read it online but i like to hear from u guys too

hopefully amazon have it sale soon ...

If you don't mind me asking what are you drilling on a daily basis, do you use cutting oil while drilling and do you do multiple holes in short time spans. If you do then maybe invest in a bit doctor and sharpen/ repair your bits.

not for daily use but occasional use in steel like rhs , flats . angle iron etc

have owned titanium coated bits b4 which lasts fairly long but do get natural wear\tear & smaller 1s do break if u put too much force on it

time for a new set so i say let me try cobalt this time , did read up on it & they say its very tough

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00004RGVZ/ref ... 3RU4&psc=1

never really used a proper oil or cutting fluid as americans call it , usually used some wd40 or car oil

want to try this & was about to ask ppl here

http://www.amazon.com/Forney-20857-Cutt ... illing+oil

http://www.amazon.com/Cutting-Fluid-Ep- ... 7026701220

as for drill doctor , us$100-130 i feeling hard to pay that much when i can buy about 4 sets of titanium or cobalt bits for d $ ....

are you drilling with slow speed or high speed ?
high speed will over heat bit and dull it fast.

also better to predrill smaller size because a large bit has a bigger chisel point which does not pierce well.

slow speed & thats exactly what i do : start with a small bit then use d bigger bits

note that titanium is a coating eh so like all things it will eventually wear out

gonna try some cobalt bits this time yes ...

Forget the Ti coating. I use cobalt bits in just about every metal including Titanium and the work perfectly once you use the correct rpm and feed.

For steel use a sulfur based cutting oil.
For aluminum WD40 is great.

If you are drilling thick material use peck drilling..ie, drill in small depth increments and retract the quill to clear the chips.

One more tip, use a center drill to start your hole, that way the bit would not wonder at the beginning of the cut.

Morse drill bits are the best I've found.

Which ever bits you decide, they will all get dull at some point, and will either need re-sharpening or dumping...

while cobalt is the sharper bit and can tolerate the heat better, they can also break easily....especially using a drill with a non centered drill line....so if you really wanna spend some cash
get a decent set of cobalt bits and the drill doctor 500X
and that should last you for a really long while once they do not break
it may be hard spending the initial 1000TT for the combo but you have it for a really long time after
if not, continue with regular Ti coated stuff and change when they get dull

these are awesome!

How much would a 1/2" drive torque wrench usually sell for locally? Harbor Freight has one for $10usd. Should work out to $200ttd landed.

I have that torque wrench, it is pretty heavy, that is not a bad price landed.

it is quite popular, did a rudimentary calibration check and it appears to be correctly calibrated.

I have a drill doctor, it works but only really good on bits over 3/16 or so
because it uses a special holder which has to be aligned before grinding and it does not hold/align small bits well.

It also sharpens with a large chisel point

Does it come with a storage case? It looks good but I don't know what these sell for locally to tell if I'm getting a good deal.

BTW how did you do that calibration check?

yes, comes with case
to do a basic check you clamp it in a vice horizontally and hang a known weight from a known distance to check the lbs/inch, google

Got a replacement for $5.00 at r and n in sando

Anybody bought a cordless hammer drill lately ?

It appears all the manufacturers seem to sell batteries separately now.

it will cost about $1000 landed via skybox
you just have to buy leads after

I have bought 3 other for friends and they working good,
one of them being used in a welding shop under pressure.

there is a slight flaw with the case but easily fixed.
it weighs less than 10lbs
