12k btu $3570 without installation as my good friend who does installs just took the panasonic unit for the installation feeDuane 3NE 2NR wrote:gastly369 wrote:Installed a gree inverter smart unit last week... Replaced a 15 year old panasonic
What size and price?
You had to buy the wifi module separately?
Depends on the unit. I know someone saw a $1500.00 reduction in electricty bill after replacing a 3 tonne. He swapped out the 5 tonne after, not sure how much the bill went down by after that.Phone Surgeon wrote:Idk I find the sound of a ac never bother me. Is just something that was always a background sound over the years so paying double for a quieter unit never make sense. When both of them gonna last the same amount of time and you would never realize the savings from buying a inverter with our present subsidized electricity prices

all big motorized machinery utilizing speed controllers for efficiency rather than hard stop/starts
I figure money spent on attic/ceiling venting would be more worthwhile.
if you drop your ceiling temp 2-3 degrees, the load on the ac will be dramatically less.Phone Surgeon wrote:Idk I find the sound of a ac never bother me. I thought the AC guy was mad to suggest a 9K for my bedroom, as the smallest I've ever had was a 12K Lennox. I can't go back to regular ACs after this. This thing works better than all other AC units I've ever had, even ones with much higher BTU ratings, it's whisper quiet, cools down the room quickly and doesn't guzzle power. No cold drafts around the room either. Plus you can control everything from your phone remotely. I can turn it on before I get back home to cool the room. I would have never considered a Samsung before but the price was hard to beat here. Everything was installed for around 2600 TTD.

Contact for the installer?
Most white acrylic paints have a better SRI than tinted solar reflective paints. If your walls are warm to the touch, paint them white.pugboy wrote:yeah but that hard to fix unless you putting trees and awnings to block sun on walls or extra layer of cladding or something

Sorry Duane, I live abroad in Brazil, I was converting the local currency to TTD. I don't think Samsungs are anywhere near that cheap in Trinidad. They're a good value for what I paid, but when people would charge you 6000 TTD for that same thing, then it might make less financial sense.

Surrounding greenery keeps temps down, just saying. Done right, it can be easy on the eyes and provide shade.adnj wrote:Most white acrylic paints have a better SRI than tinted solar reflective paints. IIRC, though not as good as white, light grey and light tan, have good SRI values, also.
Only if it doublesredmanjp wrote:Phone Surgeon wrote:Does paying the extra for inverters make sense with the price of our electricity? In the past when I calculated it you wouldn't see the savings for the life of the unit.

that going to go up soon tho, so it will make sense

Either get a split unit or one of those window units where at least the coils are outside the room to be cooled.
