It is then known as a "fact".

So even during the period where the people had no evidence of this particular existence it is still accepted since they "now" have the proof.

Also the “evidence” to prove the Non-existence of a religion also does not exist.

Take warp drive for instance. Scientists say that they have not discovered anything that can move or make an object move that fast. Up until the other day they found nothing that can move faster than the speed of light. In the scientific community they keep an open mind to things.
