Bayern Munich's Jupp Heynckes Suggests Lack Of Winter Break Is Affecting 'Drained' English Clubs & Insists Manchester City 'Don't Look As Strong As They Did'
The 66-year-old visited England to watch Premier League matches during the Bundesliga break that spans nearly a month, describing the rest period as "perfect"
Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes believes the Premier League needs a winter break, insisting English clubs look “drained” and Manchester City are not as strong as they were at the beginning of the season.
The German boss took time during the mid-season rest to be a spectator at a handful of top flight games in England, with title hopefuls City one of the teams who did not have the best festive period, drawing with West Brom on Boxing Day and losing against Sunderland on New Year’s Day before bouncing back with a 3-0 win over Liverpool on Tuesday.
The Bundesliga break stretches from December 20 to January 21 and is a system the 66-year-old insists is “perfect".
Heynckes told the Hindustan Times: “Manchester City don’t look as strong as they did at the start of the season and other English clubs look drained. The break in Germany is perfect because it helps the players come back refreshed.”
