HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
Key messages for Beryl can be found in the Tropical Cyclone
Discussion under AWIPS header MIATCDAT2 and WMO header WTNT42 KNHC.

WIND: Hurricane conditions are expected in the hurricane warning
area beginning Sunday night. Hurricane conditions are possible in
the hurricane watch areas Sunday night or Monday morning.
Devastating wind damage is expected where the eyewall of Beryl
moves through portions of the Windward Islands.

Wind speeds atop and on the windward sides of hills and mountains
are often up to 30 percent stronger than the near-surface winds
indicated in this advisory, and in some elevated locations could be
even greater.

Tropical storm conditions are possible in the tropical storm watch
areas by Monday morning.

STORM SURGE: A life-threatening storm surge will raise water levels
by as much as 5 to 7 feet above normal tide levels in areas of
onshore flow near where Beryl makes landfall in the hurricane
warning and watch areas. Near the coast, the surge will be
accompanied by large and destructive waves.

RAINFALL: Beryl is expected to produce rainfall totals of 3 to 6
inches across Barbados and the Windward Islands Sunday night into
Monday. This rainfall may cause flooding in vulnerable areas.

Showers and thunderstorms well north of Beryl may produce 1 to 4
inches of rain over portions of southeastern Puerto Rico Monday
night into Tuesday.

Rainfall from Beryl may impact portions of southern Hispaniola
Tuesday into Wednesday, with 2 to 6 inches of rain possible.

For a complete depiction of forecast rainfall and flash flooding
associated with Beryl, please see the National Weather Service
Storm Total Rainfall Graphic, available at
hurricanes.gov/graphics_at2.shtml?rainqpf

SURF: Swells generated by Beryl are expected to reach the
Windward and southern Leeward Islands by late Sunday. These swells
are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current
conditions. Please consult products from your local weather office.

Today had a Tropical wave which was the reason an Adverse Weather Alert was issued which is now discontinued. Separate and apart from the Tropical Storm Watch for Tobago which is still in effect.

Them feeder bands like 10 times d size of Trinidad  we definitely gonna get some heavy downpours and flood. And that's the size now - as it strengthens it gets bigger with Tropical Storm force winds further out from the center.

This is not looking good for Tobago. Distance between Barbados and Trinidad is 206 miles.

https://barbadostoday.bb/2024/06/30/sto ... ane-beryl/

The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) has advised that the current projected track of Hurricane Beryl is slightly south of the previous forecast and the center of Beryl is now expected to pass 65 miles (106 km) south of Barbados.

The system however continues to rapidly intensify and is expected to become a major hurricane before reaching the island late Sunday night. Therefore, a hurricane warning remains in effect for Barbados.

In its latest update the BMS said: “Hurricane Beryl continues to strengthen, developing a small eyewall… and at 11 p.m., Saturday, June 29 was located near 10.4N 51.2W or about 955 km (595 miles) east-southeast of Barbados.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to 85 MPH (140 Km/h). Present movement is towards the west at 20 MPH (31 Km/h). The minimum central pressure is 986mb. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 km (15 miles) from the center and tropical storm-forced winds extend outward up to 110 km (70 miles). “

The island is expected to feel the impacts associated with this system as early as late Sunday night into early Monday morning July 1.

The forecasters warn that during the passage of Beryl, hurricane-force winds and heavy rainfall will cause flash flooding and severe thunderstorm activity is likely to result in damage to some structures and multiple interruptions to power utilities and services. Marine conditions will be hazardous ahead of and during the passage of Beryl and therefore a small craft and high surf warning remains in effect for above-normal sea swells.

@ 0715hrs

Watch where the eye is and the predicted path. Trinidad getting some of that.
This is a well developed Cat 3 Hurricane, not small breeze like the times before.

The winds will be coming from the North and West sides of that anti-clockwise arm.
