India got some nice problems. Sarfaraz Khan comes in and scores two half centuries on debut. Jaiswal pounding out double hundreds, Yadav bowling Shane Warne level balls and Shammi not even in the squad.

A weak point is the keeper who came in looked pretty suspect keeping against the Indian spinners.

In the olden days of 2NR, people would have been all over this story.

Now you see why LSG are protecting Shamar Joseph. The kind of licks established bowlers are getting - Stark, Boult and company - that could damage the long term confidence of a neophyte bowler.

But I wonder if the wickets are deliberately tailored for batsmen. It is the IPL after all and money hadda make.

It's not a secret that for T20s pitches are prepared to be batsmen friendly. It's not even an Indian thing. Pitches in the CPL for the QPO and Providence are not as slow as they normally are. We also see the boundary ropes bought In across the globe.

You may want to look at the effects of the Impact Player in the IPL. Last year was the first time with it and teams hadn't yet gotten it down but this year it's being used to better efficiency.

TBH are there really any alternatives to those selected there? That squad picked itself.

I didn't know till earlier this week that SA touring WI for 3 T20s before the WC and they picked a different team than their WC squad. There are some commonalities with players they probably want to see more off. Maybe WI might do the same and give some of that T20 match practice against international opposition.

Have hope, this is the only format that Windies players are really incentivised to do well.

IPL money does bring out the best.

Didn't they get beaten in the last T20 world cup by some associate teams despite IPL players and all their prestige? Yeah they aint reaching anywhere.

Cricket in August, November and December, rainy season. I guess this is the only option since IPL and other franchise tournaments mean players aren't available during dry season. But how many of those games might get washed out?

Jimmy Anderson to retire after the first test against the West Indies this summer. England would never find another Jimmy!
