Man say WI in control yes ...lol
After last match many Australian fans were disappointed for that 3 day match, plus sponsors that paid for 5 days of sponsorship got 3 and these things cause huge loss in revenue. Aus NEED to carry this test to 5 days so expect very slow boring cricket for the remainder of this test.

Windies played well, considering. But they should still pray for rain, a draw would be a positive result for them.

Good article. The Pig 3 countries will continue to keep most of the revenue for themselves and thus be able to field their best players. WI and other smaller countries will keep producing good players but they'll never be able to field a team strong enough to compete with the Pig 3 consistently, as their star players will always choose franchise money over national pride.

Plus the game has stagnated in terms of growing internationally. Ireland got test cricket status a few years ago but have yet to play a proper test series. When you look at football and basketball, a lot of countries have advanced in these sports over the past 20 years and have strong national teams. Cricket has a chance to grow similarly because of the popularity of T20, but it seems greedy administrators just want to keep all the revenues rather than investing in smaller countries.

Excellent point. Remember the bacchanal with $millions missing / diverted from the TTCB accounts?

The BCCI generates 85.3% of the ICC's revenue but gets 38.5% of the revenues.
Even under the current allocation the teams outside the big 3 are in charity territory.

What should be a fair allocation?

Aus had to let WI win to make the ODI series worth watching and not be predictable.

If he gets an IPL contract we in trouble

Well done by WI. I went and sleep when Shamar had taken two in two to leave the Aussies 4 down but Smith was still there and I felt he would come good.

Woke up to see WI won and India 9 down. Two turnarounds in those tests.

First test victory is over 25 years in Australia. But I won't get too excited yet, I've seen Sammy take 7 wickets for less runs in England on his debut, so we have yet to determine if this is beginner's luck for Joseph. Once the opposition team gets video analysts on him we'll see if he can be as successful in the long term.

Still glad to see the win though.

Pace rookie Shamar Joseph says he will pursue his “dream” to play Test cricket for the West Indies over Twenty20 after bowling his side to their first victory in Australia for 27 years.

Joseph, who claimed a remarkable 7/68 in the West Indies’ eight-run victory despite suffering what appeared to be a serious toe injury on Saturday night, claims no amount of money from Twenty20 leagues will stop him from playing Test cricket.

Australia were bowled out for 207 midway through the fourth day in Brisbane on Sunday, levelling the series at 1-1, with newly deployed opening batsman Steve Smith carrying his bat to be unbeaten on 91.

“I’m not afraid to say this,” Joseph said. “There will be times when T20 cricket might come around. Test cricket will be there. And I will say this live. I will always be available to play for the West Indies, no matter how much money it takes or come towards me. So I will always be here to play Test cricket.”

Former West Indian captain Brian Lara applauded from the back of the press conference he was filming on his phone with one hand while holding two bottles of champagne with the other. Former West Indian players turned commentators Lara, Ian Bishop and Carl Hooper were in tears after Joseph bowled the team to victory.

This guy is a breath of fresh air ...... assuming he really lives up to these words. I'm sure Jason Holder might have said similar during his days as captain and look at him now. Anyways that's a problem for the future but today we can celebrate that victory. I was planning to go sleep as I thought it would be an easy victory for Oz. When I see him clean bowl those 2 fellas in consecutive deliveries, I forget about sleep yes. We waited 27 years for this victory and can't be sure when will be the next one.

Joseph is just saying those things in the moment based on his emotions from the WI win and his 7 wickets. When the time comes and he starts getting lucrative offers from different T20 leagues around the world I reckon he'll find a way to not play test cricket for WI just like the rest of them.

The man came from a small village in Guyana and when country bookie comes to town they will go wild with all that modern civilization has to offer.

Opened up Cricinfo to see what's new. There are three T20 competitions with matches on at the moment including one in Bangladesh where Evin Lewis is playing. Was wondering about him when I saw some local barber post a vid with him over the weekend.

Last week they were actually 5 T20 competitions occurring simultaneously - Bangladesh, UAE, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

That test cricket dominated all cricket news in the past week is very heartening.

West Indies schedule no cricket during the IPL window so if he gets a contract there he should be ok.

He got a sign in the PSL with peshawar zalmi. I think it's good experience especially if they looking to play him for the t20 world cup.

Probably helps that GAW players Saim Ayub and Mohammed Haris plays for Zalmi as well.
