Hazelwood and Cummins have the WI batsmen in school.

Thought it would've been at least 5 wickets by now. Well done WI!

You spoke to early. 188 all out only because Shamar and Kemar added 55 for the 10th wicket. Aussie 59/2 with Shamar taking a wicket with his first ball in test - Steve Smith and added Labuschange after. Khawaja looking real solid.

Before the game I was telling my pardner Cummins and Hazlewood would rack WI up....when they were 2 down posted this here and then saw this morning they took 8 of the 10 wickets.

WI so predictable.

This could very well be an innings defeat.

But well played to Joseph thus far and also Mackenzie.

The performance of the present WI team in my view was credible given the level of inexperience and the power of the Aussies.
Once these young plays can demonstrate some consistency and grow their capacity to handle pressure, improvements may come.
Many did not see them even scoring 100 run in Aussie territory.
Thus far their attitude seems reasonable and the on field spirit commendable.

They aren't really that young ah, inexperienced yes but not young [relative from a sporting perspective]
Kirk Mckenzie is 23, Athanze is 25, Greaves is 29.
Kaveem Hodge, 30 was in the same cohort as Joe Root at the Darren Lehman Cricket Academy.

The REAL Australia just showed up.

WI trailing by 95 runs are 3/7 - Hazelwood 3/2.

Athanaze, Braithwaite, Chanderpaul all gone.

People taking bets to see if WI could get to 50 in 2nd innings. Now 19/4.

Hazelwood 4/2

Joseph bowled his heart and soul out. Great mindset and attitude.

Meanwhile BC Lara still has it, over the age of 50 - During a break in the current test match, he went into the nets:

After the warmup I saw an Aussie commentator say Tagenarine looks so loose outside off and this was a noticeable difference from when he was last there where he was more compact and less prone to false shots. Man was dismissed twice in this match playing loose shots outside off.
Bet your bottom dollar if the commentator noticed it the Aussies also did and planned for it and Tage didn't.

Shiv needs to step in.

Shiv needs to step in but not to help his son with his cricket but to come back and play out in the middle.

So DaSilva needs his btting head examined. Got out to the identical hook shot in both innings. 2nd innings one was worse because he knew the team needed him to stay but allowed the Aussie to psych him.

Some people need to be dropped for the 2nd test match.

They should drop DaSilva for Imlach whose also in the squad and a wicket keeper batsman. They might have to also drop one of the batsman to bring in Sinclair who is an bowling all rounder, off-spin is more effective against left handers which the australia team have quite a few of them. r

U19 WC going on.
WI got a win today against Scotland following up on their opening match loss to South Africa.

Meanwhile on the even of the 2nd test bt WI and Australia Cameron Green has tested positive for Covid but will play. When one thinks of what the protocols were in 2021 this is such a departure.

Kevin Sinclair is all but certain to make his WI debut as well as he has been bought in to replace Motie.

WI biggest problem in the last match was the batting, yet they replace a bowler for an all rounder? No wonder WI cricket in the dumps.

Guyanese spinners probably wonder what they do so to always keep getting dropped.
Motie wasn't good nor bad in the last game and overall his test bowling average is still below 21 RPW. He was WI best test bowler of 2023 spin or pace. However he was dropped.

It's been 6 years since they ever picked Bishoo and in test cricket there hasn't been anyone that outshone him since for WI (except Motie). The main spinners used in that time have been Permaul, Warrican and Cornwall and none have done better than Bishoo.

AUS was hitting out, look at the economy rate of all the WI bowlers, over 5 rpo in a test match. AUS knows rain is around the corner again and it probably won't be a full 5 day match so looking to win quickly hence the declaration as well for less runs than WI.
