I donno what these guys are confused about. Getting a semen analysis is standard-of-care after a vasectomy. My urologist gave me an actual pen-on-paper prescription for it.

You need at least an initial test after the first few months to make sure they actually cut the right tubes and the pipes are infact clear.

A second test can be done later (after a year+) because there is a chance the vas can heal and you get recanalization of the vas (the pipes join back up).

Fun fact: my urologist said there is a 2% chance the vasectomy will fail

also a fun fact: he said I don't need the most high quality test. Just get whatever is the cheapest

while factual -- there's no reason to get one 2+ yrs later unless your doctor said you should or you want attention
