VEHICLE recovery company, GPS Experts Ltd, whose founder and managing director Rawle Francis was killed on Friday, will be closed for a few days, but they assured customers yesterday that their vehicles remain protected.
According to a senior manager, Francis was in the process of recovering a stolen car on Friday night when he was attacked by three men and shot along Jerningham Avenue in Belmont, shortly after 10.30.
Francis, a father of three, was taken to Port of Spain General Hospital and succumbed to his injuries hours later. The senior manager continued: “Mr Francis set the tone and direction for GPS Experts Ltd and grew the business to become a dominant player in the GPS vehicle and asset tracking industry despite death threats from criminal elements. In conjunction with the board of directors, Mr Francis had agreed on a succession plan in the event of something like this and we wish to advise that business will continue.”
“The brutally vicious and violent nature of the attack has left the GPS Experts team shocked and in disbelief. This is a terrible loss for all of us in the company and for our community,” he added.
“GPS Experts Ltd’s sales and installation departments will be closed for the next few days, however, the emergency hotline and response department remains vigilant and ready to respond at a moment’s notice.”
Homicide Bureau officers are continuing investigations into Francis’s murder, but up to last night there were no arrests

I remember Rawle from Fatima days, especially. We were both money-conscious and compared the bills in our pockets regularly. ** dunno why **

Rawle once marked a $5 note with his initials to see if it would ever come back around. And sure enough, it did after he exchanged it with a maxi conductor. It turned up in my hands 2 days later. Sure enough, there were his initials - R.E.F.

Just thought I would share that little story.

RIP Rawle,a really good guy,a guy who made anyone feel welcome anytime,a great and playful dad to lovely kids,a young businessman who made mistakes and had many challenges along the way,he fought and fought and was now beginning to really blossom as a businessman.

May the creator comfort his loved ones in this time of pain and devastation,sorry pal.

remember rawle from back in the trinituner car show days and drags, really cool dude he was.....sucks that happened

Now seeing this. Saddened and shocked. I think I first met Rawle when we used to have tuner limes at a certain Valsayn residence. Every time he saw me anywhere, even if he was with his family, he would take a 5 mins just so we could 'catch up'.

I last spoke to him a few months ago.

Damn, this really sux. RIP to a great tuner and a great guy. My heartfelt condolences to his family.
