You self, why you think Kobe is always compared to MJ, its because he like everyone idolizes him. The difference is that as a top NBA player, we can see the subtleties in Kobe's game, all of which MJ had.

Everyone will be compared to MJ because he epitomizes what the NBA stands for.

^^Nope. MJ was always ba great scorer. Along the way he had to learn the other intangibles.

Of c ourse Kobe does, who in their right mind wouldn't? I always say MJ photo should be in the Encyclopedia when it comes to basketball.

Yes you can see the similarities. And that's one of the main reasons I started to watch Kobe in the first. Still getting to see a little MJ......somehow  There is no better person for Kobe to emulate. Talk done. Same height, body structure, strength, drive.

To each his own..

Vince Carter is the closest to MJ....

Can't dribble, different position, different height, shooting game is average, faster, stronger, heavier...

Now please explain to me how they are anything alike (let's not even begin with the lack of rings) on the purely physical/play style level?

Kobe is ALOT more like Jordan than Lebron is.

Same height, same weight, same position, great paint and perimeter game, def. same style.

I'm not talking about achievements here...I'm just talking about the way they play the game and their respective styles.

Lol, im saying it as it is... VC could've been G.O.A.T calibre but he played on scrub teams.

V.C is the closest SG to match MJ athletically.

Check V.C. draft info, his vertical leap was measured as 43" or so, KB24 has a weak leap compared to V.C and other nba players.

KB24 aint bad though, he has the killer instinct that only a few elite players posses... he also got great footwork, Pick and roll IQ and consistency....

but imo, Prime V.C > Prime KB24

Today's versions r scrubs.....

I am not saying Kobe is not one of the best, but if you really want to compare Kobe to Jordan and LeBron, and as I said 21st Century Jordan, as the style of basketball is a little different (overall players are better, change of a few rules).

I am going based on actual stats here:

Jordan: Began NBA Career: 84-85 Season, Won 1'st Championship: 91 Season(roughly 6 yrs after he began), Won 6 Championships; Being the MVP each time.

Kobe: Began NBA Career: 96-97 Season, Won 1'st Championship: 00 Season(roughly 3 yrs after he began), Won 3 Championships; SHAQ (NOT Kobe) being the MVP each time.

LeBron: Began NBA Career: 03-04 Season, Won 1'st Championship: not yet, Won 0 Championships

Lets look at NBA Career Stats now(the important ones):

Jordan: PPG=30.1 ; FG%=49.7% ; RebPG=6.2 ; AssPG=5.3 ; StlPG=2.35
Kobe: PPG=25.1 ; FG%=45.5% ; RebPG=5.3 ; AssPG=4.6 ; StlPG=1.5
Lebron: PPG=27.5 ; FG%=47.1% ; RebPG=7.0 ; AssPG=6.7 ; StlPG=1.8

Clearly Lebron has a better overall performance as indicated by his stats, which is what I liked about Jordan (good offensive and defensive basketball).

Jordan did start his pro career at a later age since he went to college.

So basically, I will give LeBron 1-3 years until the Cav's(if he stays with them) recruit some players to help LeBron take the championship.

As I said LeBron James = 21st Century Michael Jordan

p.s. -
Kobe is ALOT more like Jordan than Lebron is.

Yeah but Jordan was not a raper/wife-beater. So please rephrase that comment. Hence Kobe does not have any endorsements (as in you see MJ ~ Gatorade, LJ ~ Sprite, Kobe~?).

8-) 8-)

I know real man gonna try and bash this but the stats are there, to eliminate whatever bias you may have.

The circumstances that all those guys entered the league is different man. Kobe was straight outta high school and was a bench warmer. Scoring average 1st season was about 7ppg.

MJ came out of college and was on a sheit side. All clear to score at will.

LBJ biggest hyped high school in history. He had the green light even before he played his first game.

Also Shaq won all 3 MVP titles because he was "the man" at the time. Shaq woulda get on like a backside if he didnt get all 3.

Oh yeah, I am one who is not totally convinced the KB raped anyone. She lie down, take she toto, tell her friends(proudly), one ah dem say girl $$$$$$. That's it. :|

Well, LeBron clearly lived up to his hype and the Cav's does not have any other superstars.
Kobe won championships with Shaq. Shaq had better PPG than Kobe 2 of the 3 years they won. Clearly he deserved the MVP.

Kobe has definitely flourished as he matured.

LeBron still young and will continue to excel in the next few years.

^^Yes LBJ is a different entity altogether. His number and potential are awesome......Scary thig is he is still maturing and learning .He and Howard are the future. Once Howard develops his offensive game that is. If Howard develops a face-up 10-15foot jumper....is trouble!! Next 5yrs Eastern conference finals Cavs vs Magic.

BTW. Oscar Robertson. Career avg 25.7ppg 7.5 rpg 9.5apg

Check his career stats. Only guy to ever average a triple double in a season!

That three that Fisher hit to put them up 94-91 was set up by Kobe elbowing Nelson in the face. Although I agree it could have been inadvertent by Kobe, the league has always been strict abt suspensions for elbows to the head/face. Howard was suspended for Game 6 vs the 76ers for this same thing. When Kobe elbowed Ron Artest in the neck the league said that had it been in the face he would have been suspended. Let's hear what they say now.

I think the Lakers will just about be able to finish off Orlando. It will be a tight game but by winning game 4 I think LA broke most of the Magic spirit. With game 5 back at the Staples Center the Orlando Magic will have it rough. It will take a miracle for the Magic to win both games away.

Big teams almost always win against Small teams. Sure when you play small you have the pace and the handles to out fox your opponent. But as it's been said a million times-no post presence? No Ring! You live and die by the jump shot. Orlando would have to have a stellar perimeter game tonight to win. Lakers killing you either way.

You can't expect D. Howard to produce every game-it's impossible. He's only human. Turg. despite his size is better suited on the perimeter or off the pick and roll.

Lakers are gonna start with Bynum and pressure Howard from the get go. The double team on defense will be Bynum/Gasol. Boom--> as is the norm Bynum will pick up the foul-no problem-rotate Odom(MORE PRESSURE) double team on the defense then switches to Odom/Gasol. And you rotate all night.

1. If Early and up: Put Bynum (less offensive presence but great on the defensive rebound preserve the lead)

2. If Early and down: Put Odom (Great offensively, avg. on the defense-regain the lead)

Gasol in each time. Gasol fouls the least out of all. Keep it big all game-and let the Black Mamba go to work distributing and drawing the fouls. Fisher and Arriza to bring the pace and intensity and double team Howard: Lakers wrap this up tonight.

Also...Bynum...Forget trying to end the game. Your job tonight is just to foul out. Foul, bother, and just get in D. Howards face as LONGGG as possible. He sucks at the Freethrow and you got the advantage of another big man (Odom or Gasol) to help you out.

Bynum's roll tonight is to become enemy #1.
