Lol....Lara would barely make a top 10 all time ODI batsman.

I think Lara did let us down a bit in ODIs but still he's ranked number 8 best ODI batsman according to the ICC.

Erroneous! Lara faced far better bowlers in his time than the lollypop bowlers it have now, yes even the ones from the dominant teams.

I think you are mixing it up. He has the 8th highest ranking score. That's a point in time rank/score and not reflective of an entire career.

He also had that score that places him 8th in 1993 when he would have only played around 45 games.

By your rational David Gower and Dean Jones are even better than Lara was. Also Tendulkar not there and he would probably be a first or second pick of anyone picking a best ever ODI team.

Yes good point read over those metrics and realised it after posting.

There's definitely a way to calculate who's the GOAT, found this paper which was quite interesting, but don't fully agree with their methods.

Told you guys this about South Africa a month ago. Quota captain Temba Bavuma made a duck today and averaged 18 for the world cup.

Reeza Hendricks only played 2 games and average 49. If he had played today, they might have scored enough runs to beat Oz. They'll never win so long as politics prevents them from selecting the best team.

Bavuma averaged 80 in ODIs in the past year leading up to the WC and has a career ODI average of 46. I agree he should have been dropped but it really should only have been later on in the tournament as his numbers suggest he should have had an extended run to find some form early on.

Aussie win World Cup (in a few minutes)

Well done and well played.

They out-strategized India.

Alluh buying up alluh tickets for the England WI games at the BLCA - 19th and 21st of December?

Unlike all the previous internationals these would actually be day/night games so hopefully we can see some actual crowds as opposed to what we saw with those 9am start times India imposed on their tour.

Game was streamed on YouTube by SA cricket board if anyone wants to watch the replay. WI A really tried to throw away the game but Sinclair and Mac saved them.
