The rain real catch people off guard as it was drought just a few days ago. Up to now with all that rain some bush fires still smoking. Hopefully the sun will be back out soon and wasa could keep they tail quiet about hose ban

As welcome as the cooler temps and bushfire break is, please pay attention to the road surface for water filled potholes. After memorising the potholes on that backroad connecting trincity Mall to WASA during the dry period, I was passing through on the 1st day of rainfall and saw that a lady went through a water filled pothole some days ago. Damage looked significant.

Now there's a helpful combo of caution tape and palm leaves marking the spot, but there's 3 shallow but nonetheless dangerous potholes remaining on that stretch.

This heat is definitely going to ramp up storm activity in the Atlantic this year.
Sea surface temperatures are high.

SSTs been consistently high for a while, but now with El Nino (EDIT "ending"), that shearing isn't going to be a factor to help "slow" the development.

Guess our only saving grace is the very dust we loathe.

YouTube have quite a few informative videos about what to expect this hurricane season. General consensus is "we in for a ride "

No wonder my UPS was going crazy last night again.

T&TEC sees ‘highest ever’ use of electricity due to hot spells
https://www.guardian.co.tt/news/ttec-sees-highest-ever-use-of-electricity-due-to-hot-spells-6.2.2003765.797d893116

In a statement yesterday, the commission said it had recorded “continuous increases” in electricity demand over the past two weeks, as previous peaks were exceeded on five occasions.

While T&TEC said it has more than enough installed capacity (2037MW) to meet the surge in demand for electricity, the increased demand has resulted in increased natural gas usage.

Same in many parts of Tobago. load is a lot heavier and everyone running AC now. All the conditioners, UPS at my home constantly work as neighbors systems engage or water pumps etc.

But whenever I hear TTEC talk that usage, I expect to hear a rise in bills soon.

It's because people abuse the privilege of cheap electricity we have. Everyone AC set to 17 degrees and none can realistically reach that temp so they run right through. Some even leave the AC on at their workplace so place cold when they reach next day. Government have to keep stepping in and telling us what to do like little children.
