I don't think they can depend solely on boundaries to win them all the games necessary to go all the way to the finals.

Fully agree. They still have to learn how to make singles or twos from those dot balls.

Every other international coach does come across as active, making adjustments as needed and engrossed in the game and fine tuning the team strategy. Our coach on the other hand just sits there like a grandfather struggling to feign interest and stay awake. No wonder there's been little improvement or development in player performance.DMan7 wrote:Country_Bookie wrote:Big Phil does either be sleeping or eating ice cream. u didn't see the post match interview with Pooran a couple of series ago before the last T20WC where he stated that's not their style and it's a team of boundary hitters etc...
Appalling comment!

The description you have put was for the Global Qualifiers A and B.
Yeah two teams advancing per group, not one.DMan7 wrote:Dizzy28 wrote:^ No. The top two in each group in the phase WI are in moves forward to the main part of the competition i.e with the big boys.

Orrr ok cool. Looks like WI have a chance if 2 teams from each group goes to the World Cup.
Much is often made about the size of the grounds in Australia (although these days it depends on how far in the rope is), but the fact that the country has the second-lowest boundary percentage in T20 suggests there is some truth to the belief. At 54.1% of runs in fours and sixes, only South Africa (51.7%) has a lower figure. For sixes alone, Australia is again second lowest, with maximums accounting for 20.6% of runs, behind South Africa (19.6%).
That more threes are scored is linked to this. In Australia, batters score a three on average every 127.7 deliveries, which is by far the lowest figure. The next lowest is England at 235.4 deliveries. For twos as well, Australia has the lowest per-balls rate of 11.4, ahead of New Zealand at 13.1. So it would appear that batters should get their running shoes on.
