Wisconsin prepares for vote recount

Officials in Wisconsin are preparing to conduct a full recount of the votes from the US election in the state, which was narrowly won by Donald Trump.
A formal request for the recount was filed by the Green Party's Jill Stein.
Dr Stein, the Green Party's candidate, has also pledged to file for recounts in Michigan and Pennsylvania.
Lawyers for Hillary Clinton's campaign say they will participate in the Wisconsin recount, though it is thought highly unlikely the result will change.
The result would need to be overturned in all three states to change the outcome of the election.
The Clinton campaign's general counsel, Marc Elias, said there was no evidence to conclude the election was sabotaged, but "we have an obligation to the more than 64 million Americans who cast ballots for Hillary Clinton to participate in ongoing proceedings to ensure that an accurate vote count will be reported".
Dr Stein reportedly wants to make sure computer hackers did not skew the poll in favour of Mr Trump.

$7m fundraising target
In statement, the Wisconsin Elections Commission said it had received two recount petitions from the Jill Stein campaign and from Rocky Roque De La Fuente, a businessman who ran unsuccessfully to be the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee.
"The Commission is preparing to move forward with a statewide recount of votes for President of the United States, as requested by these candidates," said Wisconsin election commission administrator Michael Haas.
He said the recount would begin in the week after Dr Stein's campaign has paid the fee, which the commission was still calculating.
Dr Stein's campaign needs to raise millions of dollars to cover the fees for the vote recount in all three states.
Dr Stein's website says nearly $5.3m (£4.2m) has already been raised toward a $7m target. It says this is enough to fund the recounts in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

Mr Trump's camp has made no public comments on the recounts issue.
Mr Trump won 290 electoral votes in the November election, while Mrs Clinton had 232 votes.
Michigan is yet to declare final results.

President-elect Donald J. Trump said on Tuesday that he had no intention of pressing for an investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server or the financial operations of her family’s foundation, dropping the “lock her up” pledge that became a rallying cry for his campaign for the White House.

I'm shocked. Really

Couple that with his CBS interview where he now claims the "great wall" will actually be a fence (And there's already a fence) We might be on a roll....

Seems Trumps has come up with a a solution. Just let his daughter sit in on meetings with heads of state. :|

President-elect Donald Trump's meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Thursday is raising red flags — not because of what was said, but because of who was in attendance.

Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump, sat in on the meeting between the two world leaders, according to a photo the transition team released. Trump's team did not allow press access to the sit-down, which was Trump's first with a foreign leader since the election.

Ivanka's inclusion in the meeting is casting doubt that Trump and his family will take the adequate steps to prevent conflicts of interest with the family's vast business empire.

Ivanka will be the first Female President of the United States, as the Simpsons recently predicted just as they predicted Jack Warner to be charged for FIFA bribery and corruption and predicted Trump would win Presidency, I hope the liberals are prepared for it and don't explode.
Suddenly the liberal media hates the idea of a female President and hates the idea of a female being educated about politics, how ironic.

Trump was right these are the most dishonest people.

It has nothing to do with a female President....trump was elected ...so far.

Not his wife, daughter or sons...they have no business blurring the lines....especially with his holdings being as they are.

Poor form

^ Hillary did the same when Bill was President, and he was grooming her to be President, Trump is doing the same with Ivanka.

That is in the Trump Tower not so?

Its probably not very professional of him but I don't think he did anything illegal. Offcourse many of the things Trump has said wasn't exactly professional either.

Trump as of yet refuses to put his businesses in a blind trust, as is expected of all presidents. Ivanka as well as Trumps kids are currently the guardians of his business interests. Ever hear about conflict of interest ED? Hillary did not sit in on state meetings Bill, by the way.... but I know facts don't matter to the flock

Just face it, you are a stooge that will support anything your lord and savior Trump does. Just read the drivel you posted above (with picture included) to justify A president-elects daughter being present at a state meeting. I said it before. I really believe the line between reality and persona has been blurred for some and they think this is The Apprentice, or American Idol.

Yeah, I remember hearing she got the popular vote, but thought it was by 400,000.

Al Gore also got the popular vote against George W Bush. Voice of the people? The people have spoken? Lmao. Seems like one side is getting screwed by the electoral college system

Not exactly. Campaigns would be significantly different if the president was elected on popular vote.

You can't come now and complain, the democrats would have still probably have lost.

No different from our and scores of other country's first part the post winner take all parliamentary system. Only proportional representation can correct this. Ireland and Israel have some good PR systems.

Rachel Maddow and MSNBC was always pro-democrat so I am not surprised by her rant.

The elections didn't go your way, now you complaining about the electoral college and everything under the sun?

Better than that.

Posted it for the history lesson.

Don't think she was complaining about the electoral college system as much as she was showing the circumstances under which the last time a popular vote difference was this this large and how long ago and different things were.

EXACTLTY!!! I am happy Daran is the first person in how many pages to actually speak sense here!!!
Trump would have campaigned for celebrity endorsements if elections were won on popular votes, Trump instead decided to piss off celebrities and drum up a movement in key swing states, his Kellyanne Conway's strategy has paid off.

I remember when everybody was bawling make the constitution in Trinidad so that the Prime Minister would win my Popular Vote, therefore PNM will never win.

If elections were won by popular votes, Trump and Hillary would have just campaigned on California and the states with the highest population and the entire election strategy would have been different and Hillary would never have had 2 million more popular vote.
In any event, this is the first time today in a while since the US election was over that I decided to browse some news sites, NYT, CNN etc and all I could do is shake my head in disappointment. These very same people claimed to stop lying they admitted they LIED for election they promised to not lie, and just like that their lies are now worse than when Trump was actually running for President. smh..... :? :? its almost as if these media outlets are working to keep Trump in office how could they not know their nasty stinking lies is whats helping this man? or are they so incapable of honesty? Trump was right these are the most dishonest people.

These are the states with the highest population

http://www.enchantedlearning.com/usa/st ... tion.shtml

26 million people in Texas

38 million people in California.

Texas is a Republican safe seat and California is a Democrat safe seat.

Obviously Clinton would get more votes than Trump, and because he does not need popular vote he didn't care how much popular votes Hillary got, campaigning in California would be a total waste of time and energy for Trump, hence why the founders of the US constitution ensured popular vote must never win an election. Campaigning for Celebrity endorsements would be the worst possible thing to happen in the US.

Given the demographics shifts of the USA I actually believe the Electoral College system makes more sense now than before and for reasons different than the original one. In a popular vote system the Democrats can win the election by winning only 160 of the 3007 counties of the USA. When 5% of the counties have the majority of the people I don't believe they should decide for rural areas of the country.

The blue on the west and east coasts is enough to decide the election in the democrats favor.

This was realized after the election? Don't facking run then. No one mentions that I. Trump already hawking a $10 500 bracelet worn by her at the meeting on her fashion website. Imagine when millions are at stake, who will risk the ire of a US President by slighting his daughter? Not many. Hell, even the PNM waited a year before overtly awarding Elias, Sinanan, and Sammy!
