So WI get bashed by SL on the 1st day. SL - 267/3

Worse is that Jeremy Solozano got hit in the head full flush while fielding at forward short leg.

I was reading some comments in Cricinfo and BEFORE he got hit, someone asked the question why debutants in WI cricket were always put to field at forward short leg.

Anyways, Gabriel bowled rubbish as per usual going at more than 4 an over. Only Chase and Holder bowled decently for the day.

Can't see WI making more than 200 runs when they get their chance to bat. A 2 for 1 coming up for them. They won't be able to deal with SL spin as usual, plenty LBW's coming as well.

Cant understand how Gabriel getting picked in front Roach or Seales unless they're injured, expected Hope to be in the final 11 also for experience, Permaul always in the squad but never getting a game

As a big fan of test cricket I find it difficult to watch this west indies team, and it seems no one cares. Gabriel seems to have lost his rhythm over the last few yrs, his action is out of sync badly and cornwall is still getting picked. I feel it for holder as he is a very good all round cricketer that would compliment any team with his skills

Also ashes starting soon, plenty of talking points especially with stokes making his comeback and well paine's indiscretions.

Holder also looked tired IMO. Maybe the toll of all the bubbles starting to come though.

But despite that you could see he is still trying

WI 93-5 after SL made 386.
Hope replaced Solozano and made his usual contribution of ten thereabouts.

Hope and Fatman have to have a godfather in the selector panel. One averages in the low twenty's after almost 40 matches, the other gets modified fitness tests.

Edit: close of play 113-6

And that is why the whole damn system is in a mess.

Everyone should have to meet the same fitness standard whether you weigh 50 lbs or 300 lbs.

This crop cannot be the best that WI have to offer at this time. When I got up, I checked the score and laughed out loudly at the WI batting total.

Those fellas need to learn ballroom dancing to be able to play the Lankan spinners. Imagine we have reached a stage where WI cricketers cannot play spin.

But this goes all the way back to Brian Lara's days when they went to SL and he was the only one to prop up the batting against Muri and others. He scored 688 runs in that series (2001 - 3rd Test in Columbo - Lara - 221 out of 390 (1st inns) and then 130 out of 262 (2nd inns) - WI lost.

Sorry for Solozano though because he will take a while to recover from that blow to the face.

WTAF goin on??????????

WI 18/6 2nd innings

They are desperately trying to break their record for their lowest ever test score.

Phil Simms MUST go after this series.

South Africa made a big stink out if it. I don't know if WICB did as well.

WI for L!!!
Defeat by 187 runs.

India batting 258-4 in thier test with NZ. Shreyas Iyer 75* on debut (was just gonna say Iyer but remembered the last T20 had two Iyers back to back on the scorecard, along with two Patels)

SL WI 2nd test started this morning. Rain took out the 1st two sessions but SL 113-1.

WI dropped morbidly obese and Gabriel. Kept in Hopeless and bought in Permaul for the first time in 6 years and Roach.

ROFL. Ttrue.

I unfortunately woke up at the exact time they lost 3 wickets in one over. I cussed and went to do my work.

I now checking to see that they lost.

The selectors and Phil Simmons have to go.

But that only happens in so-called developed countries.

WI hopeless

Shai Hope entered the series with a career average of 26 and ends it at 25. This is the level of players we have in the Caribbean.

In the India New Zealand test Ajaz Patel took all 10 Indian wickets. Only the 3rd time this has happened.

New Zealand then made 62 though!!

Looking at the schedule for the U19 WC in the WI next year. Trinidad is hosting matches in three venues

BLCA, QPO and the Diego Martin Sporting Facility.

My wife's nephew has made the squad for Canada but they play group games in St Kitts.
