You see how easy it was for the Trinidadian players to get an exemption to leave and return normal normal even from a high risk country like India.

A 4th IPL team affected - Amit Mishra of the DC tested positive to go with KKR, SRH, CSK and KKR players and staff who tested positive before.

A postponement at this point would have to have been an inevitability.

Test match cricket going on now Eng vs NZ at Lords.
NZ made 378 in their innings based on a brilliant double from the debutant Devon Conway. South Africa seems to have lost a real talent here and unlike ppl like Labuschagne and Colin Munro he grew up and lived in SA up to adulthood.

Eng 111/2 with no play at all on day 3 b/c of rain.

South Africa have a knack for losing talent to other nations. I believe the quota system may have played a part in some players choosing to represent other nations. I don't know if they still have the quota system in place.

Based on his performance in the Best vs Best match, I say Shai Hope. I'm not ready to pin him down to just an ODI specialist just yet.

At this time Hope cant displace anyone in the middle order so opening is his only way to make the squad. Campbell has shown he is out of his depth at test level and Hope slightly better than him at this time.

Well Hope gone (and now Braithwaite).
Hope is the luckiest man in world cricket to continue to get picked based on one test match performance

Game over in 3 days. Has been quite awhile WI has won the toss and decided to bat first, bowling first was the natural option given the pitch conditions for fast bowling.

Well WI do not have the quality of bowlers that SA has. So Captain thought it might be safer to bat first. LOL.

I so hope yuh wrong eh, but time will tell. But those points about pitch curators and groundsmen are so important.

Back in the day, Sabina Park and Kensington Oval pitches were noted for their support of fast bowling.

Then, we listened to the colonialists and replaced those pitches with very dead ones. Now, there is no ground in the WI to support really good fast bowling.

Me and a pardner discussing this morning if this is even the best SA bowling lineup.

Look at the County Bowling charts - Simon Harmer and Kyle Abbot and 3rd and 5th in wickets overall and at 25 runs per wicket and 22 runs per wicket respectively. Harmer has 2 ten wicket hauls including 9 in one innings. Exceptional for a spinner to do so well early in the County season.

De Lange, Olivier and Viljoen also in the side. Olivier is a player who after his 10 tests had 48 wickets at 19 runs per wicket and a strike rate of 30.

^^^ Quality of depth of the SA lineup.

So WI made a 97. It seems that the hit Bonner took on his head shook up the batsmen because Ngidi came on and sliced through the bottom half. The psychology of cricket. We used to do that to other teams in the 1970's and 1980's.

Bonner is out of the match. Powell is on as a concussion sub.

WI batting is very fragile. Hope made no difference.

Can't believe they selected Seales at age 19 based on 2 first class games. I hope he does well but there are so many other bowlers who have more experience. What's the purpose of having a first class season then?
