Here’s another way to look at the same numbers. If you get infected, your chances of surviving are as follows:

Age Group Probability of Survival

0-19: 99.997%
20-49: 99.98%
50-69: 99.5%
70+: 94.6%

What percentage is left with short, medium or long term damage/symptoms ?

Mondays are usually low numbers, but 24 cases today is pretty reassuring. Granted, they are doing less than 100 tests per day now.

the special really good, imo. they showing the reality with online learning for poor people

a lady have 5 children and all have to share a LTE box for internet. it isn't reliable. there isn't enough bandwidth for all of them. they can't have on the TV service because that breaks down the internet. no wired service - flow, tstt, or digicel all blank their area.

The Botox numbs the nerves so they don’t move as normal initially

Slim,

You dont have any evidence of the Venezuelans bringing this “plague”, therefore you are carrying news and spreading false claims.

Allyuh Trinis have the xenophobia really bad, but remember its just a very small number of allyuh that have a problem with the Venezuelans.

The majority of the population including your Govt welcomes them......and there is nothing you can do about it........thoughts?

Hello Slim,

We are not concerned with “links” and what you assume to be true.

All i am seeing is a bunch of infected Trinis due to the negligence of their own inconsiderate actions.

If you have a problem with the Venezuelans, then report them as you see fit. Simple.

Now you can be a tell tell baby every time u see a Vene, but what happens when almost every Vene you report has their documents? You will be deemed a disgruntled jealous complainer and will not be taken seriously. This is exactly why the TTPS does not always act because they know that Trinis persistently and annoyingly harass our Venezuelan brothers and sisters.

Leave the people alone, focus on yourself.

I would love a reporter to ask this question:

So what do our Caricom neighbors think of Venezuela with a high infection risk being an unofficial part of the travel bubble when T&T joins due to the porous border?

Vitamin D isn't a treatment for Covid or any respiratory illness anyway. What treatment you talking about?
The study was a possible link in the severity of the symptoms with the level of serum Vitamin D. It doesn't say anything about a treatment. Just that increased Vitamin D serum levels may be linked to better recovery. And it's just 1 study recently done.

https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0239799
Conclusion: Therefore, it is recommended that improving vitamin D status in the general population and in particular hospitalized patients has a potential benefit in reducing the severity of morbidities and mortality associated with acquiring COVID-19.

Which generally means getting exposed to some direct sunlight and eating some eggs and fish which would be sufficient for the majority of people to naturally boost their serum levels. So don't go hogging the Vitamin D supplies at the pharmacies please.

white ppl skin can make it quick in 10-15 mins- black ppl, not so much. so u have to stay out ah hour or so per day and how much ppl doing that? in particular old ppl specifically who at risk.

a 1000-2000 IU per day is safe and could save lives. no where near toxic levels which might be like 50000+ IU per day

even Dr. Fauci recommended it https://www.insider.com/fauci-takes-recommends-vitamin-d-and-c-supplements-immunity-boost-2020-9

Plastic Face Shields Used Without Masks Do Not Stop the Spread of Coronavirus, Study Says
The new study, conducted by a government-backed research center in Japan, found that face shields do not stop the spread of COVID-19 without a mask covering underneath

GETTY
The use of plastic face shields without a face mask covering underneath is largely ineffective at stopping the spread of COVID-19, a new study shows.

Riken, a government-backed researcher center in Kobe, Japan, conducted the study by using Fugaku, the world’s fastest supercomputer, according to the New York Times and the Guardian.

Results from the study reportedly proved that nearly 100 percent of airborne droplets less than 5 micrometers in size escaped through the plastic shields. In addition, about half of larger droplets measuring 50 micrometers found their way into the air, the Guardian reported.

Makoto Tsubokura, a team leader at Riken, strongly recommended that regular face masks be used instead of plastic face shields for protection from the virus.

“Judging from the results of the simulation, unfortunately the effectiveness of face guards in preventing droplets from spreading from an infected person’s mouth is limited compared with masks,” he told the Guardian.

Tsubokura also said that those who have been advised to not wear face masks, such as people with respiratory issues or young children, can use face shields instead — but only outdoors or in properly ventilated indoor areas.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has also recommended wearing cloth facial coverings as opposed to face shields to help stop the spread of the virus.
