Guys im looking for the lubricant that is used for driver coils to help dissipate heat. It's called ferrofluid. Im not finding it locally and im not sure if the Amazon product is the same. It is for EAW 850 horns. As far as I know I only get it when I buy original driver horns but I have to do some service work before the season kick off so I just need the lubricant. Any help would be appreciated thanks...

To be frank, it is totally not necessary. All the big brands (RCF, B&C, 18sound, etc.) manufacture, distribute, and use their drivers WITHOUT this. Selenium uses it, but that's because their drivers crappy enough to actually need it.

AS long as your processor and gain structure is PROPERLY set up, you should have no problem at all, jamming any driver that didn't come with ferro fluid, for years. I personally know MANY sound men who don't, and NEVER used ferro fluid in any of their drivers, and NEVER HAD premature blow outs.

Thanks for your response. I was asking because the original coils for the EAW 850 comes with it in a little packet so I just wanted to put it back as the manufacturer recommended. But I will take your advice into consideration for sure. Thanks man...

Interesting, I think remember the build thread for one of your cabinets with an eminence driver.
Always wanted to hear a well designed low frequency folded horn.

Yeah, I am very interested to hear a pair of th-18s too.

It is probably the most studied and constructed modern day sub across the world in recent times.
Another sub which gives it some competition is the othorn.

But they are all very heavy and of use only to large scale pro audio.
I do own a table saw and could assist in building time permitting.

Didn't you build a TAPPED Horn 18" ? I actually Built a pair of 15" Cubos a few years ago. Served me very well, but the size was almost comparable to a single 18" reflex sub. For Trinidad's style of music, I think reflex boxes are the best suited (for Pro Audio not home). Horn boxes are large and heavy, and peaky sometimes.

See my Cubo build here: http://www.trinituner.com/v4/forums/vie ... p?t=381558
