WPC had fake CXC certificate and worked for 4 years, claim cops

A 35-year-old female police officer was granted $250,000 bail when she appeared before Justice of the Peace Stephen Young to answer five fraud charges.

WPC Sumanta Denise Darcel Davidson, who was last attached to the North-Eastern Division, was charged with three counts of uttering a forged document and two counts of obtaining money under false pretences.

She will next appear in court on November 6th, 2020. In the month of October 2012, it is alleged that the WPC applied for employment as a data entry operator at the IT department of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS).

She tendered a certificate of results with the following CSEC grades - Biology General (II), Chemistry General (II), English Language General (II), Geography General (II), Mathematics General (II), Principles of Accounts General (II), Social Studies General (II).

Police claim she was successful and commenced work at Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), as a data entry operator for a period of two years and three months.

On October 2, 2014, it is alleged she went to the Police Academy, Saaman Drive, St James, where she tendered an application for employment along with a certificate of results with the following CSEC grades - Biology General (II), Chemistry General (II), English Language General (II), Geography General (II), Mathematics General (ll), Principle of Accounts (ll).

In the month of February 2015, while at the Arima Police Station, the accused was vetted by a background investigator attached to the Police Training Academy.

While being interviewed, the accused again produced a Caribbean Examination Council Secondary Education Certificate (C.S.E.C) with the following grades- Biology General (II), Chemistry General (II), English Language General (II), Geography, General (II), Mathematics General (II), Principles of Accounts General (II), Social Studies General (II), which was then certified by the investigator.

The accused was subsequently chosen to be a Police Recruit and trained at the Police Training Academy. On March 23, 2016, the accused took the oath of office and was sworn in to be a Police Officer.

Sometime in 2016, the accused graduated as a Police Officer and was placed in the North Eastern Division to perform duties as a Police Officer until she was suspended in 2018, having received salaries in excess of $350,000.

On the 27th January 2017, an anonymous report was made to the Professional Standards Bureau (PSB) Port of Spain, and WP Corporal Carthy was detailed to investigate. The file was subsequently was handed over acting Cpl Bissessar to continue investigation on 22nd August 2019.

Extensive Investigations were conducted and documents obtained from the Ministry of Education, the Arima Secondary School and CXC Barbados. Enquiries was also conducted at the Police Administration Building, Human Resource Department and the Finance Department.

The investigation revealed that the accused reportedly wrote the Caribbean Examination Council Secondary Education Certificate Examination in June 2001, at the Arima senior Comprehensive School. The records also showed that she obtained the following grades; Biology General (V), Chemistry General (V), English (A) General (II), Mathematics General (IV), and Physics General (V). The accused was subsequently arrested, told of the allegations and cautioned and interviewed in the presence of her attorney. The advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) was sought and instructions received. She was further cautioned, told of her constitutional rights and privileges. She was then formally charged. The charges were laid by acting Cpl Bissessar, of the Professional Standards Bureau, Port of Spain.

CoP launches probe after $22M cash handed back.
Commissioner of Police, Gary Griffith, has launched a widespread investigation at the highest level to determine who decided to return more than $22 million in cash which was seized from a house at Kathleen Warner Drive, Phase I, La Horquetta, yesterday, September 22nd.
The money was seized by officers of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) who executed a search warrant at a house where it was alleged that persons were operating a Pyramid Scheme. The money was kept at a police station. Commissioner Griffith said preliminary investigations show that the money was handed back to the operator of the Scheme this morning without his knowledge and those of his Deputy Commissioners.
The CoP finds it very suspicious that $22 million in cash was seized and within hours, that money was checked and a decision made to give it back without the input of the Financial Intelligence Bureau (FIB) of the TTPS. Investigators completed the count of the money at 12.30 am today. He said the investigation would determine if any criminal or disciplinary action is to be taken against any police officers.
Commissioner Griffith said the money was handed back without a proper investigation to determine whether any of it was counterfeit. He said no proper investigation was done as to the source of these funds, or whether the person or persons involved had committed any criminal acts.
As part of this investigation, the CoP said external forensic personnel will be brought in to determine if any of the money was counterfeit.
CoP Griffith said he is aware that there is a concern that a number of persons invested their hard-earned money, hoping to cash in on this alleged Pyramid Scheme. He gave the assurance that once these persons can prove that their money was legitimate, the TTPS will ensure that their money is returned to them in the shortest possible time. Diligent inquiries are being pursued at this time.

Soon we may not have a properly functioning service since for the few non corrupt officers in the system, they would be overwhelmed with work. Crime and corruption would never finish in this place.

while some might be corrupt it is a product of a corupt justice system. most police will tell you they put their life on the line and hold a criminal with drugs guns etc and they guilty as hell but when they reach the court the lawyer or judge make d criminal get away wither tru twisting of the law or bribery or some small error so as a result any thinking person will no longer put their life on the line and jus do the bare minimum. from the head legal man with gun totin chirren and million dollar buildings to the egg layer who say all judges have to listen to he needs to be investigated before you blame the police. only then will you see police wuking the right way.

What process governs cash as evidence?
Was it counted ? It will take a human about 3hrs to hand count 1M in hundreds,about 40 min by machine.
20m weighs about 400 lbs.

Was it authenticated?

How does someone breeze out a station with 400lbs of cash?
How many trips did it take to load the vehicle ?

All this happen and not one officer in that station reacted to the obvious?

then it’s not illegal to be in possession of cash for somebody, you may have to give it back to the receipt holder to pretend no pyramid business was actually happening

but still nothing illegal about handing somebody cash to hold and getting a proper paper receipt.

But what process allows for 20 m cash to be taken by ttps, stored overnight and then returned in the am?

If it was a fake warrant, illegal search and police getting on bad....none of which has been determined yet...why hand back the cash?
