Local History

The Satellite Earth Station is located at Matura on the East Coast close to the sea and was set up in 18th Nov,1971.

At that time,the Earth Station was one of the two means by which Telecommunication Traffic enters and exits the country via TSTT, and serves as an Alternative Route to the Americas II Fibre Cable it facilitated direct Satellite Links between Trinidad and Tobago and the US and Europe.
