UNC is now officially COOKED for 2025 elections. Enough goodies to a large swath of the voting public as predicted to get their vote in but they likely didn't needed to since ppl was going to vote for them regardless.

Ole people have to wait until at least 2027 to get grant increase. Of course it depends on oil and gas prices then. Let them take basket.

They do not mind because they are PNM until they gone.

Soon as they get back into power again in 2025, the first thing in September 2025 budget will be the increase in the retirement age for NIS and pension. Snip this post.

Budget 2025 highlights:

1. Minimum wage in public sector moves from $20.50 to $22.50.
2. Public sector workers to get an increase of five percent for outstanding bargaining period.
3. Government to tender for a 5-star hotel to be built in Bucco, Tobago (where Sandals was proposed ). Magdalena to be sold or leased.
4. Government to lease or sell the Pointe-a-Pierre refinery.
5. Government to sell its 49 per cent stake in CLICO. Colm said CLICO still owes the State $13 billion.
6. 2000 new cars for the Police Service.
7. E- passports and digital departure/arrival cards to be implemented. Immigration to introduce fingerprint system.
8. 12 vessels to be purchased for the Coast Guard by 2027.
9. Electronic health records by 2025
10. Government to settle UWI arrears by 2025
11. E textbooks by 2025
12. Tax and NIS amnesty before T&T Revenue Authority becomes fully operational.
13. All taxes on equipment for electric vehicles will to be removed by January 2025.
14. No increase in electricity or water rates at this time. Government still reviewing the proposed rates.
15. All sport equipment (except clothing) exempt from tax.
16. Small and medium businesses owed VAT refunds will be paid cash by December 2024. Larger refunds will be subject to VAT bonds.
17. Another bid round (deep water) before end of 2024.
18. In 2025, Government will pave 100 road roads at an estimated cost on $210 million.
19. CAL given approval to acquire more aircraft.
20. Enhanced revenues from Atlantic LNG restructuring for the State from October 1.

Side note: Agriculture has been and remain Tax Free.

Smart... imbert knows the current PSA president Leroy Baptiste in heat with the membership after losing to the government in the privy council with the TTRA. Baptiste will be out in the next PSA elections.

Many NUGFW members want the 4% but the president and executive holding out.
