Tiny update, Tomorrow will make it two weeks since I got the car. Still no issues. I actually only just noticed how high the car sits. Maybe it has to do with the battery under the backseat and clearance but now I can't get it out of my mind. Lol. Also, it's been two weeks andddddddd... Still haven't been to a gas station. Seems my range is gonna top out around 780-800km but this is still not bad in my eyes cause the car has made tons of runs thus far.

Been to POS to La Horquetta and back 5 times, POS to Central and back twice, and several food runs and stops like the Mall and Mt St Benedict etc. Car only encounters traffic during the week and then it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Still... Not that bad. In the other car I'd probably be on my third gas station visit by now.

How is it going up the hill at Mt. St. Benedict?

Had no issues whatsoever. Was just kinda concerned about how wide the car seems on the roads headed up there.

Last night in the car, Just parked waiting for food, listening to the radio quietly, car started charging itself and I jumped. Scared the crap out of me. :( It's that quiet. Still not accustomed.

It's a brand new car. For Hyundai at least. The car only just made it to the US market. The 2018 might have different features or no changes at all. Don't expect a new design for at least two years. Could be wrong though.

Before today, The had only been past 80km/h once. Probably the second day when I accidentally touched 120km/h headed East. Well tonight was a different story, Decided to head to the Cross for food. Southbound was smooth and quiet. Just me and the wife. On the way home, Relatively clear roads from Sando, Foot down and the car MOVES. 80-140km/h was too easy. Car is stable. You don't even feel the roads. It is ridiculously quick. Put it in Sport Mode after Chaguanas when the highway goes to three lanes, Slowed down enough to allow traffic to get way ahead of me and then foot down again. Wow. You actually feel the Electric motor work with the gas and the car response changes, And it just feels so much better. Once again... Blown away. I know the car is supposed to be a Hybrid and Slow etc, But it's anything but. The adventure continues...

Hybrid is only "slow" in countries where all their cars have bigger engines. In Trinidad where you're getting the same size engine that's in the normal cars PLUS an electric motor they're gonna be quicker in most cases.

I think what you experiencing is a direct engine to transmission connection and not really beast mode from the engine. The DCT makes all power/torque available to the wheels instantly.

Its thrilling vs driving with a doughy torque converter.

Random update. Coming to the end of week four. Tomorrow will make it two weeks since the last time she got a full tank. And she still has half a tank left. Also remember I spoke about the ride height on the car? Literally got trapped in POS in flood conditions earlier this week and now I really appreciate the height. It even looks good when it's super dirty.

Would update more as they come.

What is the replacement cost of a battery?

Is it available in T&T?

I wanna say when I reach that bridge I'd cross it, But I have been checking on my own. And I haven't asked yet if Massy has the battery in stock and what's the price. Reason being, It's a very new car, And I've been scouring the internet trying to find out if any issues have arised in the 2016-2017 models and I've found none. With the 10yr warranty on the car, I think I should be covered. I expect degradation over the years. But nothing major or warrant a change or replacement any time soon.

Enjoy your car don’t worry about the batteries. Battery tech is proven to last very long. Take your fuel savings up front.

Thanks. I think Hyundai has done the battery thing well from all indications. The full electric versions come with a Lifetime warranty (in the US at least). I'm hoping I don't ever develop an issue. But time will tell. And concerning the gas savings, I'm trying to make it to a month's ownership on two tanks of gas (The full tank I got with the car, And the full tank I purchased on the 16th). I should be able to make it. The car is a daily driver with lots of random runs in-between.
