yeah, see, that's the thing....after all the hype, this should be better than just ok...
Is like Donald Trump level of hype...'we're gonna do our own car show, and let me tell you, it's gonna be great, we got the best cars and the best hosts, we got Jeremy Clarkson, he's a personal friend of mine, and he's awesome, let me tell you, when CLarkson drives a car, the car is driven by CLarkson, and it's the best, the best ever car show so yeah, it's gonna be great...our Stig is the best Stig to ever be a Stig, and he's gonna be great...'

But in reality, swap the Trinity any three other presenters, and people would say GT is poop

No one can create comedy about cars like they can...

:| I find GT is poop. I was seriously disappointed. It is even worse than their last few years on TG which was on a rapid decline.

It just ain't TG. It just feels off somehow...

I also think they should have changed it altogether and not try the same TG recipe.

as I said before, the trio are nothing without the BC's team of crackshot writers
Even clarkson said it...the most critical part of making a video is the script...

They should've considered hiring some skilled writers who are also fans of old top gear. The recipe for the magic is imbalanced. Really loved episode 1 though, it was a good start.

Its Americanized Top Gear. Its like when america stole "The Office" and made it there own. Ep 4 was hilarious tho

Even TG had to grow with these three in the early days. That's why I'm good enough now with episode 5 being OK. I don't mind giving them time to improve once they are heading in the right direction.

Episode 6 wasn't bad. Though I think I've seen the Ferrari vs Ford Le Mans story before.

I think the show is on point...when...there's a good mixture of comedy, commentary and documentary.

Yes, Episode 2 was bollocks, Richard Hammond seems to be overacting a bit and the production isn't as polished as "their" Top Gear.

Otherwise it's been good so far...head and shoulders above Chris Evans and his lot.

Was always in it for the cars....GT straying from that.....like how MTV ended up being reality shows rather than music videos....

So far there is also a lack of stand alone reviews with the individuals. Would love to see some good ole automotive journalism style reviews.

New TG teaser out with LeBlanc, Reid and Harris. Hopefully the other 2 can offset LeBlanc's shortcomings.

The Grand Tour.

Postby treeneeboi » December 29th, 2016, 5:03 pm

I think the first episode with that holy trinity was their "all in" to prove to viewers they were back with a bang. I read that the opening drive to the desert was the most expensive scene ever in tv history costing something like 2.5 mil £ to make. After that episode 2 was rel tata but it got better and while i agree with another tuner who said hammond is overacting, i think it works well enough for me to be a repeat viewer. THE ONE GRIPE I HAVE, is the redneck f1 driver they hav, I was waiting for stig or a new alter ego for the entire first episode.

The f1 driver is the worst in the show. If they would shut his mouth and cover his entire face it might be better.

Hoss that is EXACTLY what i said, why u talkin abt ur truck hav 800 bhp like the aston u test driving but u cah put a deer in the back of it...when brits do jokes like that it come across as satire, when americans do it it just seems arrogant and self righteous.

He was a Nascar driver and also drove in world truck series (NASCAR with trucks)... So 800hp is possible.
Some Americans know what F1 is if they are indeed fans of certain drivers
Mario Andretti
Juan Pablo Montoya
Nigel Mansell
Nelson Piquet Jr.

Taking in the complete special later.
