So don't equip the police then?

The police should be equipped, I blieve that is one area where Gary is trying to rectiy.
But one of the biggest problem would be accountability for the resources these officers have. I mean if a police can rent out his firearm, who goin to vex for bouncing a brand new X-Trail??

Agreed, but the comments here are that hes a chit hound for equipping the force and he's running out of ideas.

No problem with equipping the police. But captain Parrot says his job is not to strategize for the police but to give them resources. So why is captain Parrot always talking about they will go into hot spots and flush out blah, blah, blah and then *crickets*
If your job is not to strategize hush yuh mouth and buy vehicle. When they do good it was his strategy when nothing going on his job is just to equip.
Capt Parrot is a waste.

n the vacuum of a proper policing infrastructure all these expensive plasters are useless, I credit this Gov't with significantly increasing the presence of police amongst the population, however that is at the cost of human resources because you create even more specialist sections utilising the same already stretched manpower, instead of headline grabbing toys that I suspect will be bought sans procurement and tendering to fill someone's pocket, why not direct that money to a massive recruitment drive putting out at least 400 officers per year, we constantly hear about how every sector of the TTPS has to be revamped yet that takes 4 years of "study" another year to get the "report" 3 years of selective "tendering" only to discover some "flaw" and repeat the process, a serious MONS would have that process done in 18 months tops, same for the appointment of a COP that process and the delays are ridiculous, the UNC started it with Kenny, Manning absolutely abused the process and now the PP continues the trend, no professional organization takes years to find a head. If you look at a hotspot like Laventille you'd understand that if it came to an actual firefight it would be akin to guerrilla warfare rendering your vehicles useless.

What is needed now IMO is a saturation of officers out on the road, a streamlining of the structure of the service with less units whose mandates overlap each other, proper legislation for the use of CCTV footage and more accountability for actions. Each successive Minister wants to put his own stamp on things many times abandoning steps taken by his predecessor so there's no continuity usually at a financial and resources cost. These grandiose plans are a waste when basic policing and community interaction is what is really needed

There's nothing to suggest Capt Parrot is better, he just talks a lot more. It's hilarious the entourage of security he uses to go have breakfast with his family. One set of drama queens and wannabe celebrities.

Everyone rushing for blue lights is failure ting. Never see come see behaviour if I ever saw it. But the rise never came and the fall is swift.
