Search for Las Lomas man

POLICE probing the disappearance of schoolgirl Selina Ghany over the weekend, before she was found in Port-of-Spain on Monday, were yesterday searching for a Las Lomas man who officers say is integral to their investigations.

Newsday understands that Ghany was interviewed for several hours on Monday evening by detectives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit before being questioned by other officers at St Clair Police Station on Monday night.

Sources revealed the girl gave a statement to the police regarding her whereabouts between Saturday and early Monday and this prompted them to take the girl to Las Lomas where attempts were made to locate a 24-year-old man.

The man was not at home when police went in search of him, however several attempts were being made yesterday to locate him. At about 7 am yesterday, Ghany was taken to her Dacre Road, Boissierre Village, Maraval, home where she was reunited with weeping relatives. Newsday understands the Bishop’s Anstey High School student is expected to undergo counselling tomorrow courtesy the Ministry of Social Development.

Yesterday, her brother Tony told Newsday that everyone at home was happy that Selina is safe.

However, he noted the family needs space and time to heal. He added that his sister was locked away in her bedroom and appears to be in a daze.

On Saturday, Ghany left her Boissierre home telling relatives that she was going to confirmation classes at the Church of the Assumption but she never reached there.

Worried relatives reported her disappearance to the police and it was not until Monday at about 11 am when they received a phone call from her indicating she was at the corner of Duke and Charlotte streets, Port-of-Spain.
