The music is trash, the lyrics are shallow and empty, the vibe is very primitive and the genre changes every year according to who the mixing DJs want to sample.

Kess yachtie soca as well as some performers in recent years have done well in moving away from the rag and flag mess that soca became, and have been listenable - I'd even argue enjoyable - outside of fete season, I'll give them that.
