it may get a bit more popular but this constant notion of taking soca to the world ain’t gonna make you find a radio station which will play soca solely

The music is trash, the lyrics are shallow and empty, the vibe is very primitive and the genre changes every year according to who the mixing DJs want to sample.

Most of Soca is trash and you wouldn't listen to it outside of being drunk in a fete, but every year there'll be a handful of songs that have lasting power.

But nothing wrong with that, let the music be and the free market will decide if it's worth it.

We need to stop comparing ourselves to Jamaica.

^^Better off examining why and how Afrobeat is now making international waves while retaining their cultural dynamics and not pandering to the American remix trend like how Jamaican dancehall did in the early to mid 90s.

Kess yachtie soca as well as some performers in recent years have done well in moving away from the rag and flag mess that soca became, and have been listenable - I'd even argue enjoyable - outside of fete season, I'll give them that.

rag and flag is what you need for a wet fete
no other type of music would suffice

It is difficult to explain to degenerates why it isn't good to be a degenerate.
