Katrina 2005 was spawned around this same time.
Hope we in this region are not going to see 2005 pattern repeat for latter part of season.
Clearly our infrastructure just isn't able to handle any form of drenching as proven this morning.
Thankfully things today seem to be settling down.

Flooding in Port of Spain has subsided
Thu, 2012-08-23 12:58 | kmaurice

The Port of Spain City Corporation has indicated that flood waters have subsided and it is safe to enter the city. Flood waters in Barataria have also receded and the East Dry River is now considerably lower. Clean up efforts are ongoing and tree cutting teams are out assisting.

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management would like to thank citizens for their continued cooperation and urges citizens to remain cautious and monitor media networks for weather bulletins from the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service for the most current weather conditions.

Remember that affected persons can contact our Emergency Contact Centre at 511 to make a report.

If your passage way/street/yard out of your home is blocked and a clean up session has to take place, what do you expect?
The travelling public could not have even come out of City gate and make their way around POS.

I heard they could, just walk across by the lighthouse side and cross. A coworker of mine did that and made her way to work.

Say the correct thing:

The general public just to fcuking lazy to come to work, any excuse they get they will take to avoid coming to work.

And come tomorrow all of them going to take leave of absence under exceptional circumstances or whatever they call it.

This is trinidad, most of the lazy mudder fcukers rather stay home, that is why most of the lazy fcukers have nothing much in life, but when they want to go in uncle sam land they will work two jobs with a smile.

Interesting bit of trivia

2005 was the most active hurricane season in recorded history.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_st ... ane_season

Tropical Storm Jose was the 10th named storm to form that year on August 22nd 2005

Tropical Storm Joyce was the 10th named storm to form this year on August 23rd 2012

by this time in 2005, 4 of the 10 named storms became hurricanes whereas only 3 of the 10 named storms have become hurricanes, though Isaac may become a Hurricane by later tonight.

Hurricane Katrina, that caused massive devastation in the southern US states, formed exactly 7 years ago today, August 23rd. 2005.
