The deceased was identified as Kevin Constantine, of Grasshopper Lane in Diego Martin.

Reports said, around 1 a.m., Constantine was in a grey Mazda 323 proceeding east along the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway when the vehicle came into contact with a blue Mitsubishi Lancer.

At the time, the Lancer was attempting to manoeuvre north onto Trincity Central Road.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage on impact.

Constantine suffered fatal injuries.

He died at the scene.

The driver of the Lancer, a police officer from Freeport, also suffered serious injuries and had to be taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope.

Good thing they were able to trace the owner via the MOWT digital service and social media. Left to be seen if the driver was the owner. Imagine depending on the police to trace the driver. Hope the family gets justice.

That poor truck man didn't even see what was coming.
I hope the driver faces jail time, plus having to pay heavy $$ restitution to the driver's family.

Seeing ppl say the driver who fled is a soldier. Hope this isn't swept under the carpet as happens when a member of the protective services is involved

Let's be real. Nothing will happen. It was an "accident."

Regardless of the cause, and the cause is mostly always reckless driving and speeding. There are countless accidents every year and the offender always just gets off in a minor way when the charge is eventually called in court next 12 to 16 years. I sure everyone can recall a really bad accident whether it was a flattened Aqua crossing the PBR, or a container truck rolling onto a car killing two. Nothing ever happens. It's just a matter of having a conscience or living with a manslaughter charge which really means nothing in Trinidad courts. Life itself just f*ck up so and it means nothing to the statistics.

Sorry to the victim's family. RIP.

the newer dashcams have better date storage
them cases take years to reach court and then judges lenient

i got close footage of a cement truck deliberately running a car off the road a couple years ago
only thing that came of it was guy was fired

Fleeing the scene of an accident is an offense. Failure to report an accident is an offense. That's the most they can charge him with so far. Our only hope is for Kiss baking company to pursue this matter further but is if they willing to spend time and resources on this.

what is the website to pull up such info ?

at the end of the day, until the license plate system is changed where the car carries a plate which is directly tied to a person and whom shall receive the charges
it will always be near impossible to pin charges
that extra layer between car plate tied to a chassis and then a car owner will always make it harder

Manslaughter is not an offense?

So is likely he was driving without inspection cert or insurance when the accident happened.

I thought the fine for no inspection was about $5000 ?

It's up to 5000 based on discretion of officer and if you contest it the discretion of magistrate.
