Yes. And he said that they gov't will "look at it".

In other words, don't hold your breath.

If the price drops and gas prices stay the same, the gov't wins by getting more money.

So salt!

The current spot price for gasoline is US$3.15/gal US$0.83/liter, TT$5.70/liter. That is before transport, delivery and distribution from the refinery.

The historical price was about US$2 per gal, TT$3.60/liter.

Transportation and distribution in the US is equivalent to about TT$1.40/liter.

Sounds like their overall metric is the total subsidy, not individual.

As long as they subsidising diesel, chances are the other fuels will have to compensate.

All that drama for a roughly 20% increase?
Storing large amounts of fuel aint a simple thing. It can go bad if temp isnt right, not sealed properly, contaminants etc.

Indeed it’s a dangerous thing to do, it seems as though the thought of saving some $ outweighs safety.

Grim forecast from unions and employers :

With the cost of living skyrocketing as fuel and food prices rise, the country’s employers are saying there might not be significant salary increases any time soon.

We all know the answer to that question.

He is not affected by any gas price increase because he and his pardners in government get a monthly travel allowance of $6,660.00 per month.

That is a real DEVIL figure! :P :P :P

As bad as Rowley is, Kamla is much worse. And this is the reason why pnm is in power and will remain in power until the alternative party has a better leader.

Hanlon's razor - "never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity" or in this case maybe incompetence.

Given that the previous tax exemption for hybrid/electric vehicles was set at a limit of 179kw I'd venture to say that there were typo's in Imbert's presentation notes where the value's were actually intended to be 145kw electric motors and 178kw combined output with him not being knowledgeable enough about cars to pick up on the discrepancy.
Which if true would be worrying seeing that he is about to pass regulations that would affect a significant portion of the population without the ability to judge if he's being fed trash info by his technocrats. Although it could just be that he's simply a liar, I guess we'll see when the new measures come into effect.

As an aside, taxes based on engine displacements and power outputs seem incredibly short sighted at best and possibly even spiteful/classist based on interpretation. Given the constantly progressive nature of technology, larger engines are becoming more efficient coupled with the reduction/removal of gas subsidies reduces the merit of the given reason of reducing subsidy expenditure. Additionally with smaller engines becoming more powerful due to new developments even the most affordable cars would creep into higher tax brackets.
I'm curious about tuner's thoughts on if switching to taxes based on rated fuel economy such as EPA rated MPG(or the equivalent in the country of manufacture) i.e. lower MPG=higher taxes and/or FOB price would make sense and what would be the downsides that might arise from this.

I don't usually call you jack arse but today I will label you as an arse.

Rowlee came in power on an emailgate lie and a host of other trumped up lies with racist actions behind it.

The African mind is very gullible and takes chain up easy

If you and others don't know this then you are a bigger jack arse. Its lil kants like you who pretend to be neutral that have Trinidad as a shitthole under the red Government
