So the paddock has been abuzz with this DAS development that SIlver Arrows plans on running for this season..... FIA come out one time and say "allyuh take a bligh...we wasn't running it for 2021 anyhows!!!"

The FIA will only allow Formula 1 teams to run Dual Axis Steering (DAS) systems until the end of 2020, with the device having been already outlawed from the start of 2021.

The main talking point of pre-season testing so far has been the steering idea, which alters the toe angle of the front wheel through the steering wheel being pushed backwards and forwards.

Mercedes has checked with the FIA about the legality of DAS, and the governing body's view is that it is allowed because the device only alters the steering angle of the front wheels.

While rival teams are now considering whether to copy the idea themselves, or challenge it by arguing that the toe-angle illegally changes the front suspension, it has emerged that the FIA has already moved to outlaw teams from running anything like it in 2021.

This feels similar to the 1997 dual brake car which McLaren entered.

A brake pedal for one wheel to help eliminate understeer during a corner.

F1 testing has alot of sandbagging... but Bottas slipped up a little and posted a 1:15 time..... no one else came close to it....

Ferrari may have issues getting into Vietnam, as would be Pirelli head office peeps and some of the Ferrari customer teams that have Italian personnel

Well, it's two weeks from Bahrain to Vietnam so I guess they'll just need to keep staff out of Italy from the time they go to Australia. (Which is currently looking under threat as they are raising alert levels to the point of banning sporting events and public gatherings)

Vietman has a 14 day quarantine so it's looking unlikely for anyone coming from italy because if you're tech or mech, you'd need to be there next week

They're arranging exceptions for media and staff based on testing and exposure.

As for the testing, yes Merc is likely ahead, but very unlikely those guesstimated times are correct or will be when the season starts.
Horner and Marko are way too confident to suggest they're half a second behind, while Ferrari clearly dialed down the engine (obvious given Haas and Alfa use their powerplant and were faster in a straight line even in their heavy fueled runs). Also, given that race pace with heavy fuel loads was their weakness last year while end of race and quali on low fuel saw them at least on par with Merc and RBR, it's not inconceivable that their entire testing programme was run heavy.

All that aside, in the weeks between teams often find much more time in the factory with what they've learnt. We wont know until Australia and moreso Bahrain which is more representative of the remaining circuits.

would be funny if racing point places 2nd in constructor's for 2020 using 2019 chassis 'clone' and MB powerplant...

btw: Covid-19 has already caused motogp to pull races off its calendar...

Motogp hasn't pulled races. They've been barred.

F1 didnt pull China either, the chinese govt cancelled.

Merc aero package is way ahead. Ferrari's powerplant was the best, but whether or not it was legal we'll likely find out soon

Rumored online Italian teams might get banned from racing doh in some countries, due to they are rank 3rd most infected with the Corona virus. They might just have to pay their way out!

in the saga of FIA / Ferrari vs the rest of teams, FIA basically said 'nah our private resolution with Ferrari is legal and led to faster solution, so allyuh could rock so'

2nd now. Brawn has alredy said if one team can't race, noone races.
