Doubt it lol. Did you consider the tiralejo? , Mankees can get that in for you. The new ones are 50/50 and they've got nothing but great reviews from big game shore guys.

Yeah, but its a much more responsive split. Feels much more like a one piece rod. My main rod is 70/30 (St. croix avid surf.)

Didn't realise the split made a difference in responsiveness, I have my old 50/50's i still use once in a while, wouldn't mind trying a 70/30 to feel the diff.

Yeah, basically the taper is continuous and you get flexion all the way into 70% of the blank whereas a one piece rod is made from a single blank from tip to butt. With the 50/50, usually the butt section is exceptionally stiff and the tip section is more isolated when casting as the load isn't effectively transferred throughout the blank. But it isn't a limitation once it's factored, some of the most expensive rods are split 50/50 like some japanese manufacturers. These days with high modulus graphite rods it's not very noticeable to distance or anything but the cast feels more crisp kinda like recoil lol.

It's gonna be hard to source a bail assembly for a reel like that. I think it's time for an upgrade, there's alot of great budget reels out there sub $300.

All of those reels are in that 500 to 800 dollar bracket, the ceymar being the cheapest and the azores being the most expensive but much cheaper than say a saragosa while similar in performance. Mankee had the Azores and lethal I believe.

ok... I am pulling the trigger on one of the rods listed in the link tonight. Which of the 10 foot and over you recommend? The heaviest lure I throw is 3oz and the lightest is 5/8oz. I am considering the CSX-S-1002M which is rated 1.5 to 3oz. However, I am reading that manufacturers over-rate their lure rating and the sweet-spot for lures are much lower. Now I am contemplating the 10.5 or 11. What is your view? Oh did I say that I AM buying tonight before the wife find out I have a small overtime? Open the link and look over the word "cedros" you will see the up arrow to click for all the individual models in the CSX range.

Yeah I'm familiar with the models. Mine is rated up to 4 ounces but I won't throw anything over 2 ounces on it. It's best to narrow down what you throw the most and buy a rod for that. It's better not to rush things and be disappointed later. Use the lower end of the ratings to make your choice.

I mostly use shrimp in manzan but occasionally if I hv the patience I use it.

U collect a gd amount of big ones, take a thin blade knife and open dem from one of the rounded corners and then take out the meat, then keep threading dem up on the hook.

It takes a lot of chip chip to use on one hook, so I just use shrimp.

They also sell the chip chip meat in a bag for like 50, one of the houses before the big manzan river mouth, if u feeling lazy....lol

hey guys,
I am considering buying a pole spear on amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/Scuba-Choice-Spearfishing-Two-Piece-Paralyzer/dp/B00BUFTTHY/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1491505442&sr=8-2-fkmr2&keywords=spearfishing+pole+spear+on+sale

has anyone shipped one before.
would this have any problems clearing customs?

Shouldn't be a problem, same dimension as a rod pretty much. I made a polespear with an aluminium rod and a ss nut to which 3 stainless steel prongs were welded to so I can detach the head. Get a sliptip in addition to the paralyzer as well if you plan on on spearing bigger fish. I use mine for siric lol.

cool bro.
thanks

I have a spear gun for fish.
was just considering the pole spear for ease of travel and yes...for lobster and crab/siric.

i bought a 3-prong tip and made a spear with a metal pipe... but 2 of the prongs broke off after the first use. lol
i will consider that detachable tip as well.

thanks again
