S2 bro?
Come on the price you would pay to repair that old work horse... you might as well get a brand new S3...at least do yourself that favour.

Boy.. my S2 started giving an error of not enough storage space for the gallery app and waze. Went totally the wrong way about fixing it and it's soft bricked now. Hopefully flashing a stock rom will get it to boot.

S2 was a true great yes. Excellent screen for the time. full RGB Matrix and all.

M_2NR My Nexus 5 ended up having the same mic issue you mentioned :(
Got myself a G2 and flashed Paranoid Android. Will report on the battery life. But Im pretty happy so far.

yup
g pro 2 is a phablet...5.9" screen I believe

g2 is about the same size as the nexus, with a 5.2" screen

Insert the battery and hold the power button at the same time. You probably have to recalibrate the battery stats.

S2 was the best phone I ever owned, I miss it.

soon to say really. I havent had the G2 long enough. But first impressions, I think the G2 is slightly better in almost every area. Its not leaps and bounds ahead.

G2 Screen is better - Richer and bigger without making the phone bigger
G2 Speaker Volume is Higher - Only really matters to me with my morning alarm
G2 Battery is 3000 MAh and It shows.

Biggest complaint about the G2 is build quality. It creeks. Its not as sturdy as the nexus. I can bend the phone a bit with no real effort.
Its also Heavier than the Nexus
Overall I like it more...mostly because I can run Paranoid Android on it & because the screen is a nice upgrade.

I'll post more on the battery as I use it.

Great addictive game.. Next to clash of clans.

Never picked up clash of clans tbh

Took me a while too.. but everyone I know plays it and well.. Digging around in it I learnt it. Really nice strategy game but pisses me the hell off at times.

Additionally try power, volume up and center menu button, all three together. If you get it on in recovery mode, flash a custom rom. I would say try Cyanfox for the i9100. Good luck

since you was on iphone i could ask you this..
you prefer an iphone because it just works or android that you have to tinker with to get good battery life, fix issues, etc.
yes, its more customization but you think its worth it coming from apple?
idk if i should make my next phone an iphone and done. yes i like to tinker but after a while when the novelty wears off you just want a stable working device with good battery life and reliability.

for example, ..i had to flash the sheit out my s2 till i was happy with its battery life and acceptable stability balanced with the features i want. i see you and other users here tweaking that nexus 5 to earth and back to get good battery life when the 5s does this by default.

really like the z1, brought in one for a pal late last year and it came up to 3500 which is reasonable i think

would you guys say the z1/z2 is superior to the nexus 5??

M_2NR On my nexus I found battery life to be pretty ok. Even after the ROM newness wore off.
S_2NR & A172 I was an iphone user from the 3GS straight up to the 5. (with a couple short android stints in between models) The main reason Im on android now is screen size. You have a good point..iphone provides a very reliable experience right out of the box.

Dunno bout the rest of the nexus guys here, but the flat out stock experience on the nexus is great. I had no real issues.

So its not that with android you need to tweak. Its that you want to tweak. You CAN tweak. If iOS were an open platform, people would do the same (I dont mean jailbreak, I mean Custom ROMS). Im sure you can agree that there are a few things you would change on iOS if you could.

the Nexus 5 offers a great out of the box experience overall. When Apple hits us with a bigger screen, I'll probably buy in.

I did 2 major tweaks on my Nexus:

I went from stock on the nexus to PA for one reason - Because PA allowed me to toggle immersive mode on the phone, which utilized the entire screen. On stock, you basically had to sacrifice a small portion of the screen for onscreen buttons. That bugged me.

I installed a custom kernel on my Nexus for one reason also - Because It allowed me to change the color profile on the phone. I found the Nexus screen slightly washed out, and on the custom kernel, I could use a richer color profile.

Would still have been happy if I couldnt make these adjustments. But since Android allows us to do those things, why not.
