Regardless of who won or lost the UNC has some serious work to address as far as branding issues and certainly cannot expect to exist in the political arena as a default option.
The party may well be going in the direction of all previous incarnations of the DLP and a new break-away fraction is on the horizon.
Actually the latter possibility may create more positive excitement than efforts within the existing entity.
