perhaps - but they are functional though, the added complications are cool and the notifications and reminders are very useful.

really can't go back to a regular watch for anything now other than well... style.

Rolex, Breiting, Omega ect will always up in value and can be sold used on the spot in major countries . They are investments

Apple is just apple and will loose money once brought. It can never out live a real class watch.

Malaysia is not a notable quality watch producer. It's just a normal watch nothing spectacular about it.

It's a Japanese made watch sold in Malaysia. Do your homework son.

can't really see the functionality, when you can easily take out the phone to check the notifications...just my thoughts

in the car while driving, while walking/jogging - a quick glance at your wrist is a lot less distracting than getting out your phone. It works around the house too, so my phone could be in my room or on my desk but I have access to many features including SIRI, making calls, sending messages and getting notifications on my watch without having to get up and get my phone.

Agreed. Smart watches aren't functional enough to justify the premium.....yet.

well it's not for everyone.

But in a discussion on watches where many non-smart watches cost more than smart watches, you bring functionality as an argument?

Can't get into the smart watch thing. Don't want to be that weird guy glancing at his watch all time and fiddling with it. My phone goes off constantly with emails etc and in a social setting I've learnt to ignore it for long periods of time. With a smart watch would just be too much info coming to my wrist and turning off those alerts would make it just a regular watch.
Only like it for Apple Pay if that were applicable in trinidad

agreed, this took some getting used to as it needs to charge every night - tho it only takes a couple hrs to charge 100%
I got a night stand for the watch do it rests on the stand and charges.

but yeah the battery is a bummer when you accustomed to a regular watch
But compare a Nokia 6230 to a smartphone

alerts are highly customisable - my watch hardly beeps, only for the very important stuff. There is a do not disturb mode where only alerts from specific contacts come through to the watch, wife, moms, boss etc.

fitness tracking is a great feature with reminders to walk, stand etc - but that can be muted with only the vital info you need coming up.

again - it's if it works for you

Been using the apple watch a few weeks now, well more as a fitness tracker than for notifications. I got one as a gift this christmas. I really like it and I use it now as my daily driver.

it's a lot more than that - it's not just a pedometer.

it tracks your heart rate with a built in heart rate monitor, checks calorie burn, tracks your activity, sitting, standing, sleeping etc

a built in app tells you that you that you've been sitting too long and should stand for a few minutes or take a walk and it tracks this activity every day.

some apps can communicate with your doctor if your vitals start showing signs for alarm.

if you live outside of T&T it gets even more functional for health

My fitbit does that and wouldnt be severely depreciated in two years or less. Apple watch is too much money. Tim Cook must love you Duane.

OMG!! Someone in work showed me that you can send squiggly lines to another Apple Watch. Duane could send little hearts to his wife lol

I also like this feature where I can change the tunes without pulling out the phone while running

didn't read all the comments

but I was never impressed by the iWatch when it was released
but got one as a gift and I think its pretty cool, it use it all the time now, all my other watches I haven't used since. and I got a couple high end ones recently.

i hardly ever pull out my phone now, its much easier to see whos calling, to reply to txts, the fitness tracker etc.
it was really really useful when travelling with some of the apps that gave gate info, check in times, time for depature etc. the time zone feature was really useful too.

i have a reef tank with controllable lights and pumps and I can now control it easily using my watch when i'm feeding etc. The app shows up on the watch

App notifications are better like instagram etc, so no need to pull out your phone for something that is not important.

the samsung gear 2 any good?

really need a smartwatch

when in meetings or situations it would look bad or be annoying to pull out a phone to see if the incoming call or message is important or can be ignored....watch would be very useful

Again you are in a watch thread that discuss expensive watches that only tell time and perhaps may offer moon phases and the date for thousands of US$ but you are crying down a US$400 smart watch with tons of features as too expensive.

And it's not about Apple. I think the Moto 360 Gen2 is awesome too, but I use an iPhone and the Apple Watch integrates better with my phone than the Moto 360 does.

Which Fitbit do you have?

doesnt fitbit have a few lawsuits against inaccurate readings?

at CES i saw first hand the huawei watches
it was the most impressive IMO in terms of design and display

also checked out the tag heuer connected smart watch
http://www.wareable.com/android-wear/ta ... eview-2015

it was a little too big for me, but cool design and faces.
