Rooney has been playing deeper and more maturely since the end of last season...he's started to control games a bit more, knowing that Scholes was hardly playing and he was the only other player with that sorta range or passing ability...
If you notice at the end of games when we're winning, the rest of the team plays at the same tempo but Rooney is always dropped deep in midfield and trying to pass and control the game at a slow pace...

WRT Sneijder...dont mind if we do, dont mind if we dont...
We're alot more likely to win the UCL this year with him as many of our squad lacks the maturity that comes with european competition...
That said, it'll give the youth their chance to grow and experience that will aid them in coming years...also wont put it past us to do well this season with the current team morale...bar injuries, we've got a team capable of giving the best a run for their money...

Very exciting times ahead! :)

Lots prefer Rooney because he's versatile and can adjust his game to all situations and positions...
I'll never forget Rooney filling in at LB for a little while in the 08 Utd-Barca game and keeping Messi quiet...up to last year in an interview Dani Alves brought that up and said he'd vote Rooney as the best for that reason...

Gotta love our group!
Reds discover Euro rivals

United have been drawn in Group C of the UEFA Champions League alongside Benfica, FC Basel and Otelul Galati.

Sir Bobby Charlton fittingly pulled out Benfica, the team he helped conquer in the 1968 European Cup final, at the ceremony as Sir Alex's side start on the road to Munich looking to go one better than last season.

United, who were the very first team drawn in Monaco, also meet Swiss outfit FC Basel, who got a draw at Old Trafford in 2003, and Romanian newcomers Otelul Galati whose name will soon become more familiar with Reds fans.

Match dates
14 Sept Benfica (A) | 27 Sept FC Basel (H) | 18 Oct Otelul Galati (A) | 2 Nov Otelul Galati (H) | 22 Nov Benfica (H) | 7 Dec FC Basel (A)

Group A: Bayern Munich, Villarreal, Man City, Napoli.
Group B: Inter Milan, CSKA Moscow, Lille, Trabzonspor.
Group C: United, Benfica, Basel, Otelul Galati.
Group D: Real Madrid, Lyon, Ajax, Dinamo Zagreb.
Group E: Chelsea, Valencia, Bayer Leverkusen, Genk.
Group F: Arsenal, Marseille, Olympiacos, Borussia Dortmund.
Group G: Porto, Shakhtar Donetsk, Zenit St Petersburg, Apoel Nicosia.
Group H: Barcelona, AC Milan, BATE Borisov, Viktoria Plizen.

Wayne Rooney and Nemanja Vidic were named 6th and 7th best players in Europe respectively.
That makes Vida the best defender in Europe, and Wazza the 2nd best striker in Europe.

Funny how the barca fans always b!tching about Utd ppl in their thread...

Either way...only advantage of that group is that they players dont hafta do any excessive travelling...
Wouldve preferred if we were playing at least one top team for the experience for the younger players who really need to get used to the european game before they get shell shocked in the knockout stages...
