The vaccine's efficacy depends on how closely related the mutations are. A wide variation potentially requires a new vaccine. That is what happens with influenza vaccines currently. This year's vaccine is based on the strain that is expected to be circulating.pugboy wrote:maybe they can make a new version of the vaccine for the new mutation but then it’s gonna be a moving target.shake d livin wake d dead wrote:pugboy wrote:the question is if covid mutates just like the common cold which is the reason there is no vaccine for the common cold
To add to this...let's say the vaccine has been created(as claimed by some countries) would it stand up to the mutated virus?? Or back to drawing board again

at this stage they should be working from home as far as possible- alternate days not enough
Can you pm me some info on this letter or the process to get one, was feeling a bit under the weather this morning and informed my office, they told me to stay home but hr called back telling me to get a quarantine letter. Calling 800-well is a waste, called 7 times for the day was on hold for over and hour in most of them and still unable to speak to an agent. And I don't want to venture outside unnecessarily trying to find out where to go or what to do.redmanjp wrote:pete wrote:Once you submit a sample you have to sign the quarantine letter?
i didn't get tested so i doh know what procedure there is for that- i just asked the CMOH to send me a letter via email so i can forward it to my boss. I only sign it when i print it for HR- not to give to the CMOH.

The main symptoms of coronavirus are:
**a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
**a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
**a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
Most people with coronavirus have at least 1 of these symptoms.
