This is correct Sir. PP Government from 2010-2015 wasted billions from NGC instead of regularising gas supply contracts for petrochemical plants. Their main objective was to steal for themselves, friends and family. They did not care that there were no medicine for the sick and dying. They were the biggest blight to hit this island.

But that being said there is an election on Dec 2, 2019. Do the correct thing and vote for the Great PNM. Your children, grandchildren and yourself will thank you, trust me.

I actually surprised that they not going as far back as Panday in the never-ending PNM blame game. And why not blame the Queen and Harold Macmillan while they're at it. Why should the PNM blame game ever stop, they're the ultimate good boys who never do nobody nothing.

hmm... wait i sensing a correlation here somewhere... but it may be something for zoom to say.

pnm 2015-2020 should be respected. it took balls to raise gas prices, raise property tax, raise corporate taxes, re-impose VAT on foodstuff, break up petrotrin and close down the plant, introduce new taxes, send home contract workers, not pay school feeding contractors or contractors generally, ration foreign exchange to the point of ridiculousness, and not pay salaries for months at a time.

and nobody rioted.

that is the beauty of the PNM. that is political power Kamla, no matter how much Christmas bus and hamper distribution she implements, could never have. That power the PNM has might be based on race or ethnic loyalty, but it is power pure and simple. If the UNC was in office 2015-2020, they could not attempt even half of those economic measures without massive riots.

Full disclosure: I voted for the PNM in 2015.

Fears over national scholarships delay

Fears have been expressed that Government may be attempting to manipulate the national scholarship results, and may even wait until just before the local government elections to release them.

The alarm has been raised by the Spiritual Leader of the Satya Anand Ashram of Bliss and Truth, Pundit Satyanand Maharaj.

In a statement issued today, Pundit Maharaj says parents have been coming to him, sharing concerns that the Government “is ‘doctoring’ the scholarships to reflect not merit but ethnic and political qualifications”.

The release also goes on to point out that the Peoples Partnership had a history of releasing scholarship results as early as September, while under the Rowley Administration, the results appear to be released later and later every year that the PNM has been in office.

According to Pundit Maharaj, the education minister has not given a satisfactory reason for the delay, leading to speculation that the results are being tampered with.

The full text of the statement follows:

“The announcement by the Minister of Education that the National Scholarship winners will have to be delayed once again because Cabinet had yet not approved it continues to worry parents. Many anxious parents have approached me to express their deep concern and fears surrounding this unprecedented failure of the Ministry of Education and Cabinet to declare the names of the persons who have qualified for National Scholarships.

Several parents have expressed concerns that they fear that the Rowley Administration is “doctoring” the scholarships to reflect not merit but ethnic and political qualifications. The Minister of Education has provided no satisfactory reason to the national public and in particular nervous parents as to what is causing the postponement in the award of the scholarships.

Public records show that under the Rowley Administration, National Scholarships were announced on 27th October 2018, 27th October 2017, 13th October 2016, 28th October 2015 respectively; while under the Peoples Partnership 9th October 2014, and September 19, 2013. It is unheard of that National Scholarships are yet to announce by November given that CAPE results came out since August. This postponement is beyond incompetence, but now is suspicious of influence outside of academics.

What is the Cabinet hiding? What is the cause for this unacceptable delay? Is the Cabinet tampering with the results?

Given that Indo-Trinidadian students tend to dominate the national scholarship results, as well as denominational schools does the Rowley Administration have a secret agenda with this delay of scholarship results? Are the scholarships going to be released the week before the Local Elections when the public’s attention is distracted to effectively hide the manipulation of the scholarship results?”

Affirmative action?...:|

Garcia: Nothing sinister in scholarships delay
Story by ANA LISA PAUL
Date: Friday, November 15, 2019 - 12:00

Education Minister Anthony Garcia says there is nothing sinister regarding the as yet-unannounced 2019 CAPE Scholarship results.

Seeking to reassure students and their parents, Garcia said, “We have to make sure we are very careful in deciding.”

“The performance of our students has been very good, excellent in fact. And therefore we have to make sure that in making these decisions we give everybody an equal chance.”

Pressed to say if this meant that there would be an increase in the number of scholarship winners usually announced yearly, Garcia declined to provide any further information.

Government has a cap of no more than 400 scholarship winners per year.

During a press briefing at the Ministry of Education following Thursday’s Cabinet meeting, Garcia was unable to release the names of the scholarship winners.

He explained it was due to Cabinet's inability to come to a decision about the scholarships at this time.

Garcia is hopeful the matter can be resolved and the results presented by next week.

He reinforced, "National Scholarships are very important and they reflect the work that has been done by our students and teachers and where the students are concerned, they would have spent seven years at the secondary level, working very hard and their expectations would have realised by being awarded a scholarship.”

"Therefore in the award of scholarships, we have to be extremely careful in everything that we do so that no one is disadvantaged and no one is left behind."

So Fuddy Duddy's defense is that it isn't racist or sinister, but incompetence? That's the problem with everything today, in the mad rush to make sure "no one left behind we are actually" making the wrong choices, and continuing the culture of entitlement, secrecy and bias.
