Didn't feel a thing in Chaguanas where I am. Looked on the security cameraat a hanging light fixture that usually shakes with any movement and it didn't move at all around 9:13pm

Felt it and adrenaline started up because i was ready for it to be a big one. It's getting like San Francisco with a minor 4 pointer everyday.

That's why I ordered a Quake Alarm from Amazon at least I have several seconds to get out the house. If the authorities aren't interested in funding an Early Warning System for the public at large I have to take matters into my own hands.

There are multiple reasons why we could be at high risk of the big one happening now more than ever:
1. It's long overdue
2. This year in particular there's a higher risk of severe quakes especially at the Equator due to the slow down of the Earths rotation (Google it)
3. The increased activity this week- some big quakes do have what is called foreshocks, which are those that happen before the main one.

wouldn't you be safer in the house though? most earthquake injuries are from losing your balance or objects falling on your head. if you stay put under something solid, you'd be safe.

conversely, if you try going down stairs during an earthquake, you may fall and die.

If it's strong enough to withstand a collapse of your roof. Also have an emergency bag with a couple bottles of drinking water and criks under the table because you might be trapped and don't plan on being rescued for a few days. Have ah empty one also because you won't be able to go to the toilet either

It all depends on your situation: whether u have a single storey house you can get out quickly and what's outside that can fall and injure you or power lines that can electrocute you ( though if it's equipped with seismic sensors the power may be shut off), and of course how strong your house is which we may never know for sure if it may totally collapse in a major earthquake.

I do think while it's happening u might have an idea that it's going to be a big one based on how long it's going on for. So by me if I'm close to the door downstairs and there's no power lines outside as they are underground I might take that chance to go outside.
