With a dearth of information from the online pages of several state agencies tasked with responding to national disasters, the nation turned to the Trinidad & Tobago Weather Centre’s Facebook and Twitter pages during the height of last week’s major flooding.

The site’s creator Kalain Hosein was a hero to thousands, including the media, who accessed his site for reliable, accurate and timely information on the flooding. Hosein is the sole entity behind the Centre which has become massively popular as a constant source of reliable information on weather conditions throughout the country and the region.

and Kalain is not even in Trinidad! He lives in Texas.

glad to see a youth with some ambition doing something with ambition on social media. Relative to the other youths out there who only studying to make memes that are not even funny.. gez

Really??? That's amazing.

As if the local agencies didn't need more salt rubbed into their wounds

Issued by MET Office at 4:40pm

INFORMATION BULLETIN # 2

ACTIVE TROPICAL WAVE APROACHES TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO

An active Tropical Wave, with accompanying showers and thundershowers, is approaching the Southern
Windward Islands. Over the next 24 hours, as the wave progresses over Trinidad and Tobago, light to
moderate showers are expected in varying localities, with a 30 to 40% (medium) chance of heavy
showers or thundershowers in a few areas. The main area of activity however, is forecast to remain north
and east of Trinidad and Tobago.

Street/flash flooding is likely in areas of heavy or prolonged downpours and gusty winds may
accompany thundershowers. Given the current state of some areas that remain inundated from the recent
rainfall event, additional rainfall may exacerbate the situation. Citizens are advised to be vigilant and
cautious as they conduct their activities. All necessary measures MUST be taken to preserve life and
property from adverse weather conditions.

We wish to underscore that Trinidad and Tobago is not under any Tropical Storm Watch or
Warning.

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service will continue to closely monitor this weather event
and will issue another bulletin if the situation warrants.

I hope this turns out to be one of the many times that the met office put out warnings about bad weather well in advance and then the warnings end up being hot sun.

Plenty people still need time to recover from last week.

The ODPM over the last few days went into over-kill with their warnings (with some justification) and the weather seems to be hell bent on causing embarrassment.

not really, weather is a prediction. There are percentages of the predicted conditions occurring or not.

guessed when they went into over kill with the warnings it jus didnt occur as they predicted.
