^^^THIS!!!

With my Honda, i bring down all my genuine parts and let my padna mechanic install it. The small stuff like the seals and bushings i'll buy locally unless is a deal you getting online. Once you get the part numbers to do your searches, 1/2 of your problem done.

If you buy a vehicle locally, parts department suppose to give you the part numbers of whatever part you need for your vehicle. It's normally saved in a pdf document in a computer program where the user can pinpoint the part directly and the part number comes up or listed.

About the article, he should get a full replacement.

About the lying regarding replacement parts... once I deliberately change air filter on the vehicle before the first service, to an aftermarket one. put a mark just to avoid wrong accusation. When I got car back, it was billed as a new OEM filter yet the old, marked aftermarket one was still in the airbox... and this is from them people on Richmond Street. Doh want to say exactly who. When I check with a relative who works there he told me they always provide quality, new components, but there always have been the issue where garage staff steal the stuff and claim it was fitted.

Parents bought a Swift and had a problem with the steering rack. Went through a LOT of back and forth, even having to contact someone in Barbados.....sigh.....still makes a little noise after they "changed it".

He maintained that Southern Sales remains committed to honouring the warranty on its vehicles by repairing or replacing any defective parts during the warranty period.

This is the crux-they will only repalce the parts.
not the whole.

Some one said it here-involve the foreign firms ASAP and keep records....IMHO 3 or 4 people that have been shafted by the new car firms like the air filter situation-track parts with serial numbers etc-put them on blast-Individual names and co-once its the truth fb and youtube in dey ass.

Sunlight is always the best disinfectant,

Its the firms responsibility to police their staff.
If it eh happening-then they have the wrong systems in place.

ENT!!

Rust spots on the roof? RUST? on a new car?????

This isn't supposed to happen at all because all modern vehicles are supposed to be made with Electroplating, the only way it wouldn't is if its a super duper 3rd world below acceptable version.

I personally know someone who was repaid every cent on a three million and over dollar car, but was made to sign a non disclosure agreement. The vehicle was easily repaired and sits in the showroom ,although it is over a year and more old.

Wasn't there a 'experience by the stealership' thread some time ago? The main problem is these dealerships do business the Trinidad way so they don't care as long as they get your money. Toyota Trinidad still charged me for air filter service and replacement even though I had an aftermarket filter and specifically instructed them to ignore the air filter.
On this issue Stephen needs to contact Kia international and let them put some pressure on the dealership.

Did you pay and sign for that before you leave...I wouldn't

Remember when my old man carried in his lux to have his clutch release bearing greased and they actually took the time to print a letter telling him that the aftermarket parts on the van will void the warranty. This after we see the techs bleeding someone's vehicle brakes with an apple j bottle. Thanks... I good

You all don't know how happy I was with that open service area at Toyota in South Park. I saw enough to make up my mind to never carry my vehicle there.

I also do not trust the Federales on Cipero Street. I have experienced their poor workmanship first hand having to fix family and Friends vehicles that were serviced there.

Relative (cuz) took a new Honda SUV to get serviced for the 1st time, under warranty, to Richmond St (top 1% nah!).

Prior, calls were made asking if you could buy your own oil, oil filter and air filter and the company would put it in. Answer to all questions was yes.

Relative being very fastidious made an appointment and was told to come for 7:00 a.m.

Relative went for 7:00 a.m. and was shocked to see about 10 cars in line before. Place did not open until around 7:20 a.m. Relative's Honda was serviced at 12:00 p.m. - A FIVE (5) HOUR WAIT FOR AN APPOINTMENT THAT WAS MADE FOR 7:00 A.M.!

When car came back and bill was given ($1,000.00)- those nice people did not use the synthetic 10-30 oil provided but charged relative (who was female) for 5 individual quarts of 10-30 oil at $70.00 per quart. The same 10-30 synthetic oil that cost her about $200.00 for a gallon (4 quarts).

Wickedness would never done.

So basically even though the dealerships are expensive anyway you take it your mechanic is going to steal from you private or dealership

It helps to find a good one

Them garage men get their training and certification, operating their pj biz with the training too... but that not enough. They want to charge their clients for original stolen parts... only since 2011 when management stiffen up the security and checking them when leaving that things cut down...

Another reason why we don't boycott or are afraid to openly express disdain over certain things, (moreso on an anonymous platform such as 2NR or Facebook) is the fact that there are some 'big boys' who can afford high-end vehicles or items that won't necessarily experience these types of issues who can then label an aggrieved buyer as a sufferer for some e-pips or even real ones, thus we either hang our hats where we can't reach to avoid embarrassment or we allow the terrible service and/or ridiculous prices amongst other things to continue, and that goes for anything from clothing to a vehicle to a piece of land, on account of if you don't like it, don't buy it..

As for Federal's, I can vouch for their poor workmanship. They charged me approximately $1,200 for some minor work on an AD Wagon, and their workmen are very unprofessional.

The owner's son is a tuner and the father signed the agreement of confidentiality, so I can't say it outright ,but think of what showroom has a used $3.3 mil vehicle and you'll figure it out.

Re: These after sales service what do u guys think ......southern sales

Postby r.smith » August 5th, 2017, 11:46 pm

wickedtuna wrote:A disgruntled Marabella resident is calling on car dealer Southern Sales Limited to do the honourable thing and change the defective vehicle he purchased three years ago.

Marcus Stephen said he bought a new KIA Cerato in April 2014 but began experiencing problem with the vehicle with the odometer reading only 800 kilometres.

“I observed rust spots on the roof while the paint on the spoiler began fading. When I reported my observations to the sales representative he told me to take a file and file out the rust.

“At 3,000km a knocking sound began emanating from the engine so I took the vehicle back to the service department where they said they did a series of diagnostic tests and could not detect any problems.

“Then at 33,000km the timing chain tensioner, master control window switch and the steering rack all went bad. I again returned the vehicle to them, this time for a period of 14 days and when I collected it I was still getting a sound from the steering rack although they claimed it was changed.

Stephen said the service department refused to show him the steering rack they claimed they replaced while the master control window switch had to be changed no less than three times.

“To make matters worse, they broke one of the door finishers while servicing the vehicle and whenever I ask about having it repaired they kept telling me they didn't have the parts to do the job. And on the three previous occasions I took the vehicle to have repairs done it always came back with dents and scrapes on it,” Stephen said.

He said his woes with the vehicle continued as the timing chain tensioner and lifters were changed at 59,000km but the sound from the engine grew louder.

Replace my vehicle

Stephen said on May 30 while driving the vehicle it began bucking and jerking before shutting down. He said he contacted Southern Sales and was told to bring the vehicle in but couldn't do so until June 13 as he works offshore.

“My complaint of the most recent problem was verified by one of the servicemen who test drove the vehicle. I was given the assurance that the problem could be rectified in one day, yet as we speak the vehicle is still at Southern Sales while I have to be driving an old car they gave me to use in the interim.”

Stephen, who produced a series of email communication between chief executive officer Imtiaz Ahamad, service manager Richard Suphal and himself, said he's paying a bank loan for a new vehicle that has spent more time parked up at Southern Sales than he has had access to.

He said he has had difficulty in getting a response from Ahamad with regards to his request to have the vehicle replaced.

“When I finally got to speak to him on the phone last month he said he's not going to respond to my question with regards to their policy on changing defective vehicles.

“I don't want that defective vehicle anymore, I want it replaced with one that is actually road worthy, which is what I am paying for and what I should have had in the first instance.”

Southern Sales committed to honouring warranty

When contacted, Ahamad told Express it would be difficult to respond to Stephen's claims and the long history of the issues involved over one phone call.

However, he said: “As far as I recall it's just on one occasion I did not reply to an email from him but there are other people authorised to do so and they did.

“Yes, we have had some problems with the car and we have tried to rectify those issues as best as possible and in the best interest of the customer. We are still trying to resolve those issues with the vehicle.

“At times we have been unable to contact Stephen because of the nature of his work but we did have a very amicable meeting once, which went quite well. I believe his disappointment stems from the fact that it did take a while to have the issues dealt with.

“Where we are now is that we're just down to one matter that needs to be resolved, so Stephen should have his vehicle pretty soon,” Ahamad said.

He maintained that Southern Sales remains committed to honouring the warranty on its vehicles by repairing or replacing any defective parts during the warranty period.

However, Stephen remains firm in his call for the vehicle to be replaced, saying, “I will have suffered a tremendous and unfair loss if they do not replace that vehicle and I question if that is how they treat their customers

I suggest u get a lawyer and do like a guy I heard of went thru the same issue with his vw and sued Massy cause they also refused to replace his car after he got fed up of repairs to his new car ..
Oh fail to mention he won his case got a new car and additional claim for the stress he endure

Plenty so-called 'big boys" have lots problem with the high end cars ..

High end cars give plenty trouble since the tech mechanics sometimes are not trained in the dealerships ..

And owners do not keep quiet .. they make plenty fuss and some go to Court .

So do not think people do not openly make a fuss ..

Gov't know this but still no lobby for a Lemon Law ..
