You find the majority on the east coast, that side has alot more lobster. In the bocas, the trench that runs between huevos and the one outside chac is most like to hold them as long you sitting on mud/shell bottom in 400-700 ft. Tilefish I believe was found in depths up to 2000 ft deep.

My cousin caught tilefish already, about 7 miles north of the first bocas.

That fish was sweet. I cooked that and red snapper, I am not lying when I say the red snapper tasted like cardboard next to the tilefish. That is saying plenty because I love my red snapper.

That stat originates from tilefish in the gulf of mexico, you probably don't want to eat any deepwater species after that spill, red snapper are still being caught deformed even now.
http://www.fda.gov/Food/FoodborneIllnes ... 115644.htm
Gulf tiles show a mean ppm/mercury of 1.45 whereas atlantic varieties are 0.144.
You'll find the chart shows more concerning data on regular species that we eat,
king mackerel 0.73 with max numbers of 1.73 and shark 0.995/ 4.54 max ppm.
