Test cricket is much more than hand eye coordination - its patience, durability, mental fortitude. The lack of those attributes made Carl Hooper an average test player instead of a good to great one given his range of shots and the ease with which he appeared to play them. You all have to admit Hooper in full flow made Lara look inferior.

Firstly, hooper was only slightly better than lara in full flow. Secondly, it aint a matter of patience. You dont score 282 without having patience. If you like daren ganga are picked once or twice and promptly dropped every time you fail, then you must become discouraged. Ganga would have done the same had the ipl been booming in his days. Every time he failed, he was dropped. His last test, he was run out by dotish samuels and they dropped him. The series before he was in form in pakistan, again dropped. he scored 3 half centuries in pakistan the tour before, chris gayle scored one. And every time he failed, he was dropped. Its only because ganga has been playing since 1998, a tour to sa where he was one of few to come out with his rep enhancd, that he has played so many tests. Is devon smith better than the person he replaced, ganga? Ganga was technically perfect, one of the ugliest batsmen ever but perfect none the less. The insularity in WI cricket is shameful. If lendl was jamaican, he would probably get 15 tests interrupted, if he was bajan, 20. Ravi rampaul IS the best fast bowler in the west indies, yet still he finds himself out of every WI team. Rayad emrit has consistently topped the super 50 wickets column for the past three tournaments, yet no call up. Amit jaggernauth and samuel badree were knocking on wi doors in their teenage years yet jaggernauth was picked for one test, badree only for t20s. Sarwan was humiliated by otis gibson, one year after scoring of five hundred runs in a series in the west indies vs england. I want the best WI team, because it is an institution, to be picked. in the 80s, there were 7 bajans, in the late 80s, 6 antiguans because it was accepted that these were the best players. Now for the past 10 years, trinis have undoubtedly comprised most of the players of international standard. with the exception of brathwaite k, taylor, roach, andr Russel, they have mostly been trinis. Evin lewis, katwaroo, jon russ jaggessar, phillip, pooran. Yet still there are six bajans on the wi team, clearly not ofinternational standard. Simmons not in tests because of the same reason pollard and co aren't there: Trinis cant rely on the wi to make a living and are fed up of being overlooked in favor in inferiors

2nd Test Match - imo Blackwood, Chase should be dropped and replace with Joseph and Cummings. Holder bats at no. 5. and Carlos at 6.

Hooper was a natural just as Sehwag was, didn't stop the gung ho attitude from being prosperous in white clothes. Developing discipline in knowing where your stumps are, having the presence of mind to evade bouncers and leave deliveries alone comes with the experience that most of the greats developed in county matches.
Imo attacking batsmen make the best test batsmen (Grenidge and Haynes et al) once that discipline is developed. Just look at David Warner for a modern example, people speak ill of guys like chanderpaul but in his younger days, he really went after bowlers and has one of the fastest test centuries as evidence of it. Windies has a real confidence problem, if it was a t20 match with that same lineup, I'm almost certain you would have seen much better figures from all the batsmen but they go into this test shell and lose their natural game.

That win was sorely needed. And the over to spare has helped the run rate as well.
Lauderhill will be interesting especially as I've heard the pitch may be Guyana like.

Seeing an opposition that is oozing with confidence, of a win, slump to defeat is priceless. Good win. Cooper should be dropped tho.

By Masters League you referring to the series of matches played last year by the retired cricketers in baseball specific stadiums?

Lauderhill is a cricket specific stadium (albeit multiuse) so the pitches are turf as per say the QPO.
