Man gunned down for gold plated chain

About 5.45 am, 22 year-old Isaiah Hospedales from Queen Street, Aranguez, was liming with people on Ariapita Avenue opposite Domino’s Pizza and in the vicinity of Alfredo Street.

According to police, Hospedales was confronted by an armed man.

Police say it is unclear what happened next but the man pursued Hospedales across the street and fired several shots, hitting him about the upper body.

The victim slumped to the ground and the perpetrator fired more shots into him.

He then removed Hospedales’gold plated chain and made good his escape.

Hospedales was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

When Sunday Newsday arrived on the scene yesterday, at about 10 am, the bloodstains from the murder could be seen on the sidewalk outside Domino’s and a broken part of the front glass was also linked to the incident.

A week ago I was walking along the main road in St. James during midday and a guy walked up behind me, grabbed my hand, stole my thick gold bracelet and jumped into a car that was waiting for him on one of the side streets. It's the only jewelry (besides earrings) I ever wear due to sentimental reasons.
I was very sad to lose it, but at the end of the day it's just material stuff and from stories like this, it could have been much worse.

It's pretty scary out there and I am pleading for everyone to be extra careful.
