 Partially true, but he or anyone else don't have a excuse for driving on bald tyres.
I've see allota 300k and up (vans/suv's/luxury vehicles) in bald tyres, thats crazy to me.
Next is those Tiida's, Ad wagons with those super Skinny arse tyres and doing crazy speeds,
I think these people have a death wish or something.

I'd rather some good foreign used Michelins or Continental over the tata tyres men trying to push these days.

Its not always a case of cant afford, it sometimes being the case of being too dotish to realise how unsafe driving on tyres with no thread is.

Drive the Tucson responsibly and as it was intended and Nexens are just fine. Ain't a performance vehicle
Old worn tires are probably more an issue than Nexens,Hifly and other 'chinee' brands.

uhhh no. there are cheap tires and then there is plastic. a few on the market qualify as the latter. very little friction between tire and road even on a hot day.

I think its an interesting discussion to find out what type of tyres were being used on vehicles that crashed. Not sure if accident investigators take a note of this and of course who (if any) would compile these stats but general marketing had led me to believe in 3 tyre categories below:

bottom tier tyre brands:
triangle, roadstone, nexen, nankang, wanli, ling long, aplus, Aeolus, archilles, Hercules, Apollo, mrf, double coin, riken, gt radial, Kelly, mile star, sailun, nokian, maloya, fullrun, goodride, Westlake, kleber

middle tier tyre brands:
hankook, kumho, Dunlop, cooper, federal, falken, maxxis, general tire, Uniroyal, firestone, nitto

top tier tyre brands:
Michelin, continental, Pirelli, goodyear, bridgestone, yokohama, sumitomo, toyo, hoosier

I'm sure people will argue that Sailun or Nexen is the best money can buy but I have seen first hand how inferior these cheap tyres were made and I just don't see the sense people compromise and put these cheap Chinese made tyres on their $200k + vehicles. I can't argue for seeing sailun tyres in a tiida for example. It's a $65-85k foreign used basic box of an automobile so why not, it was never meant for straight line speed or taking corners pretty quick. But when you see Sailuns in an RX8 or SiR Civic just as examples, you sometimes wonder, it was small ting to put in those costly performance add-ons to your car but in the tyres dept you allocate the smallest budget. To each their own.

Tyre brand means fcuk all. When people start talking about tyre ratings and the condition of tyres after a while then wake me up. All this sheit bout tiers blah blah. The OEM tyres for the Jetta were Bridgestone Potenza RE050 and after 20k km they were worn and noisy as fcuk. That's after one year. Dunlop Direzza DZ102 is a better tyre than that particular Bridgestone. Don't look at the brand. Look at the rating.

Some people don't even realize it's time to change their tyres. "Oh I only been driving on them a year now." This time so yuh tyre bald and it's rainy season.
