Yeah cus there is no chance that he already paid to have the "mileage" corrected on that instrument panel.

Wear and tear happens on other parts of the car as well. He should change out all of those parts as well before he looks to "correct" the mileage.

What about the mileage of the running gear,under carriage,body/frame,interior,electrical,general wear and tear? You can't turn back time even if you try.

Just note mileage on engine receipt and keep the receipt as proof of newer engine,mileage is much more than engines.

Do you know license office does this when you go for an engine change? Just carry the receipt of purchase of the engine and the last accumulated mileage on it....ask for mileage correction i think its $40.00 and they will adjust it for you. That is the only way to do it legally.

I find that hard to believe, that's done for free in Japan..and even if you have to pay the most might be $100US

But seriously OP, as one poster said, how do you know for certain the mileage was low from the donor vehicle? You have the chassis number to verify?

Best thing to do is do the engine change at licensing and note the mileage it was changed at and advise any potential clients of the circumstances.

Changing the mileage is not only for the looks on the instrument panel but also serves to monitor the wear and tear on every moving part of a vehicle.

it is not feasible. most of the people who drive an old car is because they cannot afford a new vehicle .
if it to be evenly remotely possible govt would rave to remove all taxes on vehicles
