I think after 5 years without contact there is grounds for an automatic divorce.

After 5 yrs separation you coukd get a divorce without consent. Even if the respondents location remains unknown & they dont show up for the proceedings. Shouldnt take more than a few weeks.
Often better this way. Nobody to fight u down for half your assets

Have you considered that he may have fled from the spouse and is seeking to lay low and get a divorce decree without asset splitting?

i was thinking that he kill she a few years ago and hid the body properly and now he deems it safe to get legally divorced
