I think standards

If you can the Panasonic Inverter is better than the LG. I think Panasonic Inverter is literally the best you can get and its just as affordable.

If you spending this much money on an Inverter why not buy a real brand like a Panasonic Inverter? or LG Inverter? You could keep it for a nice 20 years, and just replace parts as needed. Those sticker brands the actual aluminum fins does somehow deteriorate and blow away with the wind.

Seen the fins deteriorate in lg units normel normel.

^ hmm interesting.

What about Panasonic? I read in their ad they were boasting about the lifespan of their fins.

^ the Panasonic parts are supposed to be easy to find, if them service men can get it why not us?

Push come to shove can also skybox it. On a side note I saw an actual real GE general electric AC today, has one on a house up my side, I didn't know they sold that down here. Who is the dealer for that? anybody knows?

Courts used to sell them. Don't know if they still do. You had to do your own installation though.

I got a 12k btu whirlpool inverter series in one bedroom. It is quieter than a mouse. You can't even tell when it's on, you only see the led display and feel the coldness. It's the quietest I bought this far ( I have miller, black and Decker and GE units and they all noisy compared to whirlpool )

People , just installed 2 lennox 12000 and 24000 btu split units
The remote has some strange operation modes that the manual does not really explain.
AC men , can you explain these :

1) Health mode ( symbol is a tree ) ,what does this do ?
2)scavenging function (house symbol with arrows going in/out of house )
what does this do ( both functions can be done together or by themselve )

Where'd you get the Whirlpool inverter unit to buy and price, if you don't mind me asking?

Got it from a guy on tuner. Brand new and sealed. Paid like 1900 a year ago.....lol. I'm guessing the guy didn't know it was an inverter unit or he really needed a bigger unit. No regrets thus far.

I currently have two pioneer (sticker thing I believe) and those work superb.

I've viewed the entire thread and some people have commented that it is a brand with decent units.

Also have had a unit that has given no trouble in 5 years and very quiet so I guess its just preference...can't get in touch with the person who installed so that's why I'm asking if anyone knows...

I know it's not technically an a/c unit, but I think this may be the best place to ask. Anyone ever use any of those portable evaporative air coolers, similar to these:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TRLXXWA/re ... Bwb171G4B5

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015HS2PVQ/re ... BwbF9R3ZBZ

http://www.homedepot.com/p/NewAir-1000- ... /205995853

in researching I'm reading where it works best in climates with hot, dry air (like deserts), but not so well in warm humid climates (like ours?). I know the much larger ones like the Port-A-Cool work fairly decently from first hand experience, but would these smaller portable ones help any bit with cooling a hot stuffy 10' x 10' room?

It's for an elderly person who thinks that a/c will get them sick, so even a small 110v window unit or portable a/c will get shot down (if you know the old school thinking you would understand). They would rather use a lasko fan to blow hot air than those options, so I'm willing to buy one of these if it even helps slightly since I want to make them as comfortable as possible , and I think I may be able to convince them to try it.
